THAT being said, I'm SO PROUD that I was a part of the '80s! Yes, THE '80s, in my opinion, "THE PINNACLE OF CIVILIZATION!"

I saw the first show they ever played . It was at the Portland Paramount Theater. They hadn't even played a club gig in Seattle or anything. They opened for Zebra at a KGON Catch A Rising Star concert for $2.92 and they killed it. Your recording was probably only a few days later as they went down the west coast. Nice recording - thanks for the memories!!!

I was there too bro! I got in for $1.00, it was $.92 not two ninety two. I remember thinking, who are these hairsprayed gothic assclowns. It was epic as shit but we walked out. Zebra kicked ass.

I was at this show and I was 15 years old. I was standing center stage about 20 feet back. My favorite band since 1982.

I was at this show in the from row. I was 13 years old. AS soon as they hit the stage, I knew this new band wasn’t your average opening band. I was blown away and bought the EP the next day. Dio was insanely good. My first real concert.

makes me smile...I was at a few of the shows during this time.. Tate was mind blowing and carried them to stardom the songs are OK but Tates voice was jaw dropping
@mgdarenz5 жыл бұрын
The songs are OK? hahahaha Riiiiight. No question that Tate's vocals were outstanding, but the songs were more than just ok. Anyone who has followed their music since the beginning, knows that its was equally Chris Degarmo's riffs, arrangements, and song writing that also carried them to great success.
@benitokamelo252 Жыл бұрын
@@mgdarenz The 4 songs on this EP are really good, but nothing special (in terms of songwriting), but Tate's vocals made them sound that good. And that's undeniable.

Wow. I love the story how they just rehearsed constantly, never did local bar gigs, and then BOOM! The EP came out. I still remember opening up the jacket and putting it on the turntable. I was completely blown away! Some of the best music ever! And to replicate it perfectly live is beyond amazing! This sounds so much like the studio version, it's crazy. Thanks a ton for sharing! : )

call me crazy but their best work is their 83 EP with queen of the reich. after they got signed to a major label their sound changed to conform to what the producers wanted and their original aggressive sound was suppressed.

I had pals in high school who loved these guys so much they formed a tribute band. And damn they killed it. I think one of the members ended up going to Berklee. Saw the real band on the Empire tour (great show). For some reason the opening act was Suicidal Tendencies.

THE EP was influenced by what Accept just put out, the songs are basic accept riffs redone but with the Mighty GEOFF TATE.

Just reading about their early days in the new book - Building An Empire: The Story Of Queensrÿche.... I joined the fan club back then and was #104, got the 206 EP through the fan club and later found another one at a mall in Okla City....
