Queenstown to Milford Sound Flight - New Zealand - Copilot Seat

I went with my wife to New Zealand and we took a small plane from Queenstown to Milford Sound. It didnt take more than 40 minutes and the views of the mountains were breathtaking.

What awesome splendour, absolutely breathtaking. I'm planning to take my wife to Australia and New Zealand next year and will want to include this for sure. That approach into Milford Sound - aim directly for the cliff face and bank hard left!!!!! Must be the flight of a lifetime. Thanks for sharing . Wishing you and your wife safe travels.

I drove from Te Anau and OK it took about 2 hours each way but the experience and the views were still fantastic and live on in memory

Did this flight in a Britten Normandy BN2 in 1978, probably fairly new; Mt Cook Airlines. Best flight of my life. Brilliant Yes 1978. Also in Right Hand Seat.It used to go from Queenstown Airport, I assume it still would and landed in Milford Sound. Had a few packages on in those days as it was a regular flight; except for the detour around Glacier Lake. Unbelievable; Can be rough though ; I was lucky.

I did that same flight in the late 70's too. All I can remember is a straight climb over the mountains then a sudden corkscrew descent to the airfield. Bad weather cancelled the return flight but we got to see countless waterfalls on the bus trip back to Queenstown. Trip of a lifetime.

+jorimoss Hi Jorimoss, We endued up using "Real Journeys" which included the airplane flight there and back, the boat cruise, and lunch on the boat. It was well orchestrated. It was $300USD per person, but it was the highlight of our trip and I would do it again if I ever went back. Enjoy New Zealand! -Dan
