Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey sit down with “Extra’s” Melvin Robert to talk “Queer,” the Luca Guadagnino adaptation of the William S. Burroughs novel. Craig stars as an American expat in 1950s Mexico City, who pursues a recently discharged young US Navy serviceman, played by Starkey. They dished on the dance training they did for one scene that sees them on an ayahuasca trip, with Daniel and Drew both sharing they’d never done anything like that before! Daniel also spoke why this is the role he’s been waiting for, reflecting that it was a privilege to play a character who is so complicated. Plus, Daniel and Drew talked about the trust they developed and the awkwardness that can come with intimate scenes, which they tried to keep as real and emotionally connected as possible. “Queer” is out November 27.

Daniel is turning more and more into a dilf 😂 He’s constantly teasing Drew in every interview, which he never did when paired with his female co-stars for interviews. We’re definitely in a new Daniel Craig era!

This interview is a unique look into both of these remarkable actors, who are allowing themselves to talk about things that clearly make them somewhat uncomfortable at certain points, yet they go forward; they don't deviate or stop the line of questioning. I'm fascinated by how people reveal their nervousness, uncomfortability, self-consciousness, like hand wringing, folding arms, tapping hands together, etc. the little things that often go unnoticed, things that the person, themself, is largely unaware of doing.

I'm impressed by both of them. I really liked Mr.Craig before he was the best Bond ever. I'm so glad he didn't shut down after that series. I'm from low country South Carolina, and was pleasantly pleased with his performance and dialect in "Knives Out". Amazing talent.

Daniel Craig’s wife, Rachel Weiz in real life played a lesbian alongside Rachel McAdams so they both know what it is like to play a role like this.
@RealConstructor
@RealConstructor 2 ай бұрын
That sounds ridiculous. Because your wife played a lesbian role in a movie, the partner knows what it is to play a gay role? They probably don’t know, but they do their best, and it can look good if they are good actors. Good actors can crawl into the skin of their character and let it look like real life.

Sexuality is one facet of a multi faceted personality. Talented actors should play gay and straight characters irrespective of their own sexual orientation. Its like asking why an actor with dissociative identity disorder didnt play Sybil. Look at Precilla Queen of the desert. Hugo, Guy, and Terrance were all straight but perfectly cast for the roles.

You make a good point. In our society people seem fixated on defining the success of a film by both attendance records (you hear it endlessly on tv and. radio programs) and the possibility of winning an Oscar. The whole thing becomes a competition, with winners and losers.

I've always believed that Craig and Rachel Weiz were bi-sexual. It's always been a great way for movie stars to dispel rumours. Much like Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy. Just the typical bearding. Being a gay man of 67 years, I have known many celebrities in my work as a producer and director. It's very common in the Hollywood community. They are terrified to come out. That didn't stop Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey. They have thriving careers and they are very brave because they just don't care what anyone thinks
@kimberlywalker3970
@kimberlywalker3970 6 күн бұрын
I don't know many celebrities but unlike some people, I don't believe every male actor is gay. As far as Matt Bomer is concerned, he works but he'll never be a huge star. I don't know the other guy. I just wish people would mind their business and if people are gay, so what. If they say so, good for them. That's between them and who they're with. I wish the gay community would stop trying to out everyone to further their cause. it's annoying and unnecessary.

This will forever be the debate…unfortunately I don’t think much will ever change as we have seen time and time again straight actors chosen for these roles.
