Semicolon - gay themed short film

Timo is gay. Because a boy in his class came out publicly, he gathers the courage to tell his friends but they don’t react the way he had hoped for. On top of that, his homophobic parents also find out. As he then also starts receiving anonymous threats, he doesn't see any way out of this mess.

We totally disagree! During the last 12 month three teenagers we know from our media projects tried to kill themselves. Luckily only tried. We prevented them from doing worse then this. They all felt all alone, that nobody understands them, that nobody cares about them, that nobody would help them. Sometimes there is a vicious circle that makes somebody feel so desperated that there is no way out of this. But there is! We can say about all the three that tried to suicide themselves: One has now a loving girlfriend, the other loves his job and found a passion in acting and the other one dared to come out and has much more self esteem now. But if somebody ends his*her life, there is no chance for change. This is a final decision. Irreversible. And that's why it is not a solution neither an option.

Man merkt, dass sich Mühe gegeben wurde und die musikalische Untermalung und einige Szenen sind auch filmisch sehr gut geworden. Technisch hat auch der Comic-Stil als Traumbild gefallen. Das große ABER: Die Schauspieler konnten praktisch nichts herüberbringen und dann auch noch diese künstliche Dialogführung!

Schauspielerei zwar nicht oskarreif, aber für einen Kurzfilm absolut ausreichend. Dafür gefällt mir der Film aber eben keineswegs weniger gut. Einer meiner Lieblingskurzfilme ^^

While the acting does not reflect the reality of the emotions involved, and the viewer must 'entre dans' to create the depression, lonliness, despair, abandonment, etc., to empathize with Timo's struggle...but in that struggle the clip does make the point: we all need to be loved and accepted for who we are, unconditionally. The akward secene when a student must come out in front of the class, is sadistic: I puzle why this scene is in the clip at all. That timo so easily comes out to the girlfriend, likewise does not capture the anguish, fear 0f rejection and estrangement. There is a matter-of-factness about the clip, again, that puzzles me: there is no antecedent behavior that makes his desire to end his life seem reasonable. The one scene when his friends rush to comfort him and tell him they still love him, is closer to what is needed. But I still need to understand, what conflict in the mind of the guy who made the film, is the fulcrum, le raison d'être of the film.

was für Rabeneltern!!! Als ich mich geoutet habe war erstmal kurz totenstille in der familie und dann kamm meine mama (gott hab die seelig) und sagte zu mir ich zitire: Komm mal her , du bleibst trozdem mein sohn. @@queerblick Ja das ist wichtig auch gerade in dieser zeit. ich wohne ja in dresden und da gab es ja letztes jahr einen tötlichen anschlag auf ein gay pärchen aus NRW wo der ältere im KH gestorben ist ich finde den zustand gefährlich mit dem islamismus der hier etabliert werden soll man traut sich nichr mehr hand in hand durch die strassen zu gehen in NRW ist es ja glaube ich noch schlimmer geworden als hier in Mitteldeutschland dabei war Köln früher die hochburg und es war geil ich bin zwar aus Düsseldorf war aber oft in Köln unterwegs war eine geile zeit nur heute undenkbar leider. Auch wir die gay's und die anderen gleichgesinnten sollten zusammen halten und gegen diese entwicklung kämfpen denn wir waren immer ein tollerantes land. Ich bin mit der aktuellen politik nicht einverstanden sie tun nichts für uns um uns zu schützen im gegenteil es sind immer mehr feinde hier die das gay sein verburteilen und uns abschaffen wollen. Although the actors weren't ready to show the necessary emotion for this story it still sends a great message that suicide is not the only option left. Great idea, make sure the actors learn to show the right emotions so that they fit better with the characters next time. Loved the end btw ❤️❤️

Lesben haben es keines falls leichter. Ich bin selbst lesbsich und wurde auch schon extremst gemobbt. Wenn man Treppen runter geschubst wird und scheiß lesbensau hinterher geschrien bekommt macht es echt keinen Spaß. Aber da muss man sich einfach selbstbewusstsein aufbauen und zeigen das man stolz darauf ist so zu sein. Nach dem Moto "Out Loud Proud" Es ist aber durchaus schon bewiesen worden das Schwule sich meist öfter und offener zeigen, als Lesben.

Ich finde die Story nicht schlecht, das unrealistische dran is, das alle solchen Geschichten IMMER ein Happy-end haben. Ansonsten war die der Schnitt in gut und die Kameraführung in Ordnung. Ich finde es ist schwierig sich zu outen, aber es ist kein muss, sondern ein vielleicht, ein es darf, aber muss nicht! Jeder muss selber entscheiden wenn, ob und vor allem wie man sich outen möchte!

Danke für deine Kritik. Du sprichst viele Punkte an, die tatsächlich kontrovers diskutiert werden. Oft wird uns vorgeworfen, dass viele queere Filme negativ enden, das Leben aber oft nicht so negativ ist. Oder es wird gesagt: Selbst wenn das Leben negativ ist, braucht es keine Filme, die das verstärken, sondern jene, die Hoffnung erzeugen. Was du zum Coming-out sagst, ist auch unsere Überzeugung: Jeder Mensch muss sich in seinem eigenen Tempo seinen Coming-out-Prozess steuern. Dazu kann es auch gehören, sich gar nicht zu outen (weil bestimmte Umstände es nicht zulassen) oder sich nur teilweise zu outen. Von der Grundidee sind wir aber davon überzeugt, dass Coming-out in seiner Konsequenz richtig und wichtig ist. Coming-out heißt ja nichts weiter, als sich nicht mehr verstecken zu müssen. Weder bei Familienfesten, noch bei Freunden, noch in der Schule , am Arbeitsplatz, im Hobbybereich oder auf der Straße, wenn man mit seinem:r Partner:in unterwegs ist. Coming-out ist im Endeffekt ein Akt der Selbstbefreiung für viele queere Menschen.

Das gute ist: Das Eingeständnis ist nicht schlimm. Schwul, lesbisch, bi oder trans* zu sein, ist etwas ganz Normales und nichts wovor man Angst haben muss.

Well, there is no obligation for coming out. Also coming out comes in many faces. Some people tell everybody, some just friends/parts of family/family entirely/colleagues... however for many people coming out means to stop hiding or to get wrong asumption about their identity. But at the end it us everybodies own choice how he *she feels more confortable.

Gute Idee, guter Film nur finde ich das einige darsteller noch sehr an der Schauspielerin arbeiten müssen. Sehr professionelle Effekte +Bearbeitung wie Hintergrundmusik. An den Dialoge finde ich persönlich muss noch gearbeitet werden

Oui, aujourd'hui heureusement il est possible de se faire aider par des associations, mais combien sont morts de ma génération, car à l'époque, quel choix avions-nous ? Ce fut très dur !! Beau film qui réveille certaines de mes cellules. Merci l'univers d'être encore en vie et de voir que la tolérance envers les LGBT s'agrandit, c'est un début. Merci pour ce film.👍🏼😘💐🌞

C'est que tu dis est trés vrai et on en ne parle pas suffisament de cet injustice qui a duré pendant des sieclès! Chaque personne mort est un personne trop! Qui prend la responsabilité? L'état? La societé? On connais autour du notre asso plein des gens qui vivent des biographies détruit, des vies perdus. Merci pour ton courage d'en parler. (Dsl. pour notre francais. C'est juste notre troisième langue aprés l'allemeand et l'anglais.)

Well done the acting was superb the subject is one very close to my heart Suicide every one says its a cowards way out.....let me tell you just the thought of it is certainly not that of a coward....being Gay for a lot of young boys or girls is a very earth moving experience .....some of us and I include myself need emotional help to face it and that was not available in my day thank god today there is people and groups of people who offer the support one needs at a time when you are trying to deal with it....well done thanks for the movie short.

Dass das vielen Leuten immer noch so schwer fällt, zu akzeptieren, wenn jemand schwul ist. Ich kann es einfach nicht verstehen. Wohin diese Intoleranz und Ignoranz dieser dummen Leute letztendlich führen kann, und leider allzuoft auch führt, wird in diesem Film gut dargestellt. In diesem Fall endet es zum Glück mit lievevollen Küssen.
