Quehanna Wild Area 5 Must See Stops While There

Visiting the Quehanna Wild Area. If you ever get a chance to go, you must check out these 5 spots. They range from strange jet engine test bunkers to beautiful waterfalls. Come along with Bob and I as we look at an underground test bunker. An above ground test site. A waterfall. A lake and a real cool cabin ruin built amongst the rocks. Fun Stuff!

That was a lot of fun. There were a lot of interesting things in there! I liked "the devil is real" adventure, and the woodcock. Also, all the beautiful ferns, ferns, ferns! 🌿🌱🍃🌿🌼

Penn State once owned it up until few yrs ago. they didnt know what they were getting themselves into when they did that. i saw a program about the quehanna nuc facility once.

We were just in the area last night. We started just out side Clearfield and drove up through Moshannon to the Quehanna Wild Area and then out through there to Elk SF and into Benezette, Down through Medix back out through Moshannon. It was a cold night...but we did hike down to Table falls. The stream was full of water. Very loud on the crisp clear night. We checked off a few purple lizards also.

Awww... shucks. Thanks for the shout out, Dave. The area looks so different during the summer, my trips were late fall and early spring (fewer weeds to go through). Looks like a LOT more graffiti than in 2019 :( Ugh... you did what I did. Kunes Camp last. After that rotation it is exhausting. BUT... you missed one other worthy site. The Marion Brooks Natural Area just 1 mile'ish north north west of Table Top falls. It is a large and long Birchwood Forest. Not over the top, but interesting in its own right.
