Quemado New Mexico

AB Roadrunners, RV Living; 6/2022. Quemado (means Burnt in English) Town was named by the Spanish Conquistadors due to the blackened stones. It was caused by a fire that preceded the Spanish in 1500.

Quemado means burnt, I've hunted elk about a mile west of town. I shot my 1st elk their we awakened the town up my friend who is a native of the area. we both shot over 21 times combined we drop two bull elk. 600 yards up to 1000 yards out . We packed them out on horses. great memories!! I drove all the way from the coast here in California solo. We had steak & eggs at the cafe mention. I hunted on the Baca Ranch . I was told the Indians burnt the town down .

We were pressed for time and planned to stop in Quemado on our way back through. But everything was mostly closed. We plan to go back and do exploring. Pulled up at their store .They had a pro insurrectionist sign.Anti Biden pro fascist Trump.Luckily I had two tanks one full other empty so I drove on.They lost $50 at the least.
