It might have been risky considering he's the strongest person there, but the group as a whole should have addressed his anger issues earlier and tried to give him an ultimatum or something similar. They let him go unchecked for too long, and Holloway dies because she is the first and only one at the time to do so. It's made worse by the fact that she's a lone woman doing it.

ultimatum wouldn't really work on someone like that in that situation, but yeah they definitely should have spoken up about it much soon. Might have had to do something drastic to get rid of him though
