It's Heather Menzies, not Mendez. Sbe was married to Robert Urich. I wrote a retrospective article about Piranha for Famous Monsters Of Filmland.

@joemadden4160 Yeah I saw her on Logans Run myself years ago. Decent actress. So did you write for film magazines? You mentioned Famous Monsters of Filmland.

I wish Tarantino would make a few low budget movies like this. Forget about legacy, having epic scope. Just have some fun with it.

Love Piranha and the guy from invasion of the body snatchers; the best scene is when the guy gets his feet eaten and they take him out of the water and it’s skeleton bones 😭😭😂😂

I saw Piranha years ago as a youngster. It was then a n d is now a fairly well made B movie thanks largely to the talents of writer John Sayles and Director Joe Dante. Whats nice about this commentary here is how Tarantino gets specfically into editing and even speculates as to the budget of the movie. Personally, I viewed Piranha as a superior knockoff of Jaws that worked because 1) it chose a multiple threat instead of a singular one. 2) It had a trio of protagonists that were different personality wise 3) The woodsy pastoral environment creates a vastly different locale. Almost isolated

If Joe Dante is directing a movie, do you really need to say that Dick Miller is in it?

Joe Dante made great send ups to the b monster movies of his youth only with a kind of seventies edginess.

I totally disagree with Quentin. The way the piranhas get released into the river is THE BEST PART!

What I loved was how the Pirahna were set up, when I watched the Pirahna 3d remake that came out it was beyond disappointing that they are just these ancient creatures hidden in some deep underwater chasm that get unleashed when an earthquake happens it’s so utterly lacking in creativity, in the original the fact that they are science experiments that were bred for biological warfare is such a unique take that feels like it really separates itself from Jaws.
