The issue isn't just confined to Harvey Weinstein. He was the fallguy for the many, many powerful people in Hollywood who did and were doing the same thing. If you went round and tried to call out all of them on it a) you'd suffer, and b) you'd get nowhere with it anyway. Everyone accepted this when they got into Hollywood. How can they suddenly turn around and have a problem with it after they've got what they wanted out of Hollywood? They're already a part of it. Harvey Weinstein was unlucky in the sense that it was the right person, in the right way, at the right time with the accusations. The hypocritical woke liberal left were ready for a scapegoat. The fact is, lots of sexual predators are still holding power in Hollywood and all this has done has made them realise they need to be a bit smarter about how they go about their business. They were happy to let Harvey Weinstein take the fall cos they needed someone too. Going after the rest of abusive Hollywood just isn't going to happen any time soon.

An important part was left off the interview. As in how do you think Weinstein became that emboldened? You start to suppose he didn't hear that many "no" and the hundreds of women he did get. You flex your power... you intimidate, maybe even threaten... and stay persistent, and he'll usually gets what he wants. Add years made decades to that and show business just created a sexual monster... In a way I could see where there was "talks" about it, but aIso I would suppose it would be hard to distinguish between the girls WANTING to do the casting couch to get their start on the movie screen careers and the ACTUAL sexual harassment to getting the big name actresses that H. Weinstein WANTED to bed... the ones that didn't offered themselves to him. The unsure is another issue. I've seen those things at the start of when I worked at my job. I've seen when women would look for the boss to flirt with or a boss giving jobs to girls he was dating opposed to girls hiding from the boss looking to stop pestering them and be left alone. When you hear those talks is left unsure if whoever tells you of what relationship they had with the boss. Of course it's all about looking into whatever is reported, but even that... it usually ends up in a gray area like "it's all just a misunderstanding" to "it was consensual" and ends up he said-she said with little to no evidence. I could see the uncertainty in those situations...

What's to twist? He just said it.
@BoqPrecision3 жыл бұрын
Obviously, because whatever Quentin is saying here is just spin to make himself look more innocent. The rule in life is, when you're powerful... people are hyenas and vultures But when you're weak...not only do they become lions, they also philosophize and excuse and diminish their silence while you're Strong.

Well, aside from the actual rapes, he admitted that he knew about Harvey's behaviour.

Did you listen to what he was saying? He admits that he knew what was going on, just not to the extent of the rapes and sexual assaults.

@@Filmssentials I'm not saying I'm a judge but saying someone who creates fantastic cinema could have done more to protect against sexual violence. Instead of saying simply, I wish I said something. You cannot use someone's great work as an excuse for not speaking out.

I really appreciate Quentin's honesty, and also everybody knew about Weinstein's behaviour, so Hollywood always tried to hide his scandals.

I wonder if Meryl Streep and Oprah knew about this….

No body knew about anything. Weinstein may not have actually raped anybody and his casting couch allegations which were rumored morphed into rape allegations. Currently they are on their third run of accusing Bryan Singer as previous allegations were shown to be completely false and were lies. What saved singer in his previous allegations was the paper trail that he left that showed it was not possible for him to be where it was claimed. In the UK there was a politician called Neil Hamilton that a women accused him of raping her and his wife then was a witness saying he was in a certain place meaning he could not have been there well the accuser then changed her story to claim that the wife was also involved in the rape so her witness testimony was out the window.

I think Meryl knew. She worked on many miramax movies. I think people have exaggerated Oprah’s relationship with Harvey.
