Definitely great graphics for a standalone headset. Not quite as crisp as Batman but better than nearly everything else.

@leepit7178 it's still very game dependant. For example Hitman 3 Reloaded was meant to be a Quest 3 exclusive and the graphics are probably worse than quest 1 graphics.

I did mention the PCVR version has slightly better texture quality. I'm not sure if people are missing the fact that I said that I enjoyed the PCVR version also, and I stated that "some" users have experienced an underwhelming PCVR experience. My experience is above average, so overall a positive experience. Take a look just before the at 02:02 the lighting is terrible in the background of that scene on PCVR and I could hardly see when actually in the game. There's so many lighting inconsistencies. In some places the PCVR version looks better and then the Quest 3 version has better lightning in others. Along with lighting, there's also inconsistencies with the textures, which is probably due to certain lighting. Different lighting can affect the visual quality of the same textures, the way light reflects off the metallic and roughness texture maps for example. I do think that particular gate may be 1x higher resolution, but it's also a cutscene so I won't be able to have a look up close in both. I enjoyed the Quest version just as much as the PCVR version, but the PCVR version could definitely have been improved more. And it definitely has higher quality lighting, shadows, visual resolution, and texture quality. But most of that are just minimal upgrades imo.

I'm actually like Quest 3 here 1:32. You could always push quest a bit further with resolution using optimisers (ofc you need some external battery if you want to play more than an hour)

100% -- I was so disappointed with the PCVR version. I returned my Steam purchase and bought the Quest platform version which works for Quest/PC. After waiting for patches and hoping the PC version would make significant improvements, I opted to just run it local on my Q3.. A mind blowing Quest 3 game, a slightly above average PCVR game.
@ReaperzVR23 күн бұрын
Indeed. Minimal improvment on the PCVR version. Sure, the lighting and shadows look great, but they are only minimal improvements not mind blowing advancements that completely alter the game or experience. It really needs more higher quality textures to make it really pop and stand out more.
@stephenriggs817724 күн бұрын
Based on your video, the shadows are much better with PCVR.
@ReaperzVR24 күн бұрын
The shadows, lighting, and visual aspect ratio are better on PCVR in certain areas for sure, but there's an issue with the texture quality as it's not much of an increase over the Standalone version.

If you have a quest 3, and a VR capable PC. The quest Cross-Buy offers the quest PCVR version for free. As far as I can tell, they are identical. The flexibility of having both, but only having to purchasing it once is great value (but it's not cross save though) But whatever you choose, the game is great and they've already released 2 hotfixes and more will no doubtedly be on the way.

I am a PCVR only guy. I use Reverb G2 with the superior visual quality and use pulley system for the cable. To me that is worth the visual upgrade. That being said I am pretty impressed with the Quest3 stand alone version. It is looking pretty decent and way better then the early Quest2 stuff.

It's definitely starting to improve for sure. Ar some point I want to do a deep dive comparison of Batman:Arkham Shadow (Quest 3) vs Metro Awakening (Quest 3) and see how they compare. Currently the 2 best looking Quest games imo.

Sorry to shatter your reality, but Quest 3 display/pancake lenses is far superior and sharp across all view. Picture compression is the only problem with Quest 3 for PCVR, if you are used to DP connection.

Gracias de antemano a quien pueda responderme.

There's 2 options to buy the game or games. 1. Steam VR, which you'll have to play via connecting a VR headset directly to your PC either wired or wirelessly. Your computer runs the game, the headset is the monitor. 2. Quest 2/3/3s will give you the ability to run the game directly from the headset without needing a PC, but the graphics are slightly watered down. But... The meta quest sometimes offers Cross-Buy (which Metro Awakening has) this means if you buy the Meta Quest Version, then it will give you access to the Meta Quest PCVR desktop app to download a PCVR version for free (this is not the steam version, but it's identical in graphics and performance. Any PCVR game will always run directly from your computer and you connect your Quest 3 to it either wired link cable, or wirelessly using airlink or steamlink. You can play any PCVR game this way. So no, you cannot play PCVR games directly on the Quest Standalone as standalone games. Any PCVR game can be played with a meta quest by using the methods above (connecting to the PC and using the VR headset as a monitor and) I hope that helps you understand the differences between PCVR and Quest and how you can use the Quest to access both options.

On Quest or PCVR? On quest it's great, and I think the PCVR version is ok, but if you look at the Steam VR reviews, there's around 30% not happy with the game. The issue with those steam users is also most likely that they expect every PCVR game to be as good as Half-Life Alyx, but that game was built for PCVR only, and Metro is a multi platform title meaning it needs to be capable of playing on quest, PSVR2, and steam. But as I mentioned in the video, the PCVR version could definitely be improved.
@TijnvanGimst25 күн бұрын
@ReaperzVR people need to stop comparing lower budget productions to half life Alyx. Except if you want to ruin 90% of vr games out there for yourself
@ReaperzVR25 күн бұрын
@TijnvanGimst I totally agree. But i still think the graphics can be pushed more for PC, and I'm still unsure why the graphics texture options all look the same with no discernible changes between them.

@@ReaperzVR Honestly, I think I would prefer this game on Steam over the Quest version. The accurate lighting and ambient reflection of the game on pc looks amazing. Like, I get the Quest is a standalone headset, but every time I boot up a game that I have on both Quest standalone and Steam, I prefer the Steam version a lot more. Except with Contractors, for some weird reason, the Quest version of that game looks almost the same but has better performance then pc version. I would get huge frame hitching on pc but on Quest, smooth gameplay for the entire session.
@ReaperzVR25 күн бұрын
@johnathaan1 and that's why I recommended any PCVR users to buy the quest version which gives them the option of standalone or PCVR with the quest App as it's Cross-Buy. The Quest PCVR and SteamVR are identical. In some scenarios I've found the lighting slightly better on the quest standalone version also, for some reason certain parts of the PCVR version are extremely dark and not light well at all and you can hardly see, but in the standalone versions they look much better and you can see, but overall the lighting is better in the PCVR version. Which is part of my mixed feelings towards the PCVR version. Either way, in my opinion the game is definitely worth playing on either standalone or PCVR/SteamVR.
@MobileDecay22 күн бұрын
Why did you buy the game twice when you get the pc version with the Quest version? Lol.
@ReaperzVR22 күн бұрын
I didn't. I bought the Quest Version, and got a Key for free from the developers to make a video, so I decided to make this comparison video. Which also let me copare the Quest PCVR and SteamVR to make sure they are indeed the same.
@amirpro1024 күн бұрын
I disagree. The lighting (when set on maximum) is so much better on PCVR and the resolution and frame rate boost makes the PCVR a much better option. Quest version is using ASW (reprojection) and is somewhat choppy in big fights with multiple enemies. Although this is probably the most graphics advanced Quest game ever released and the devs made the right choice of using the exact same meshes (geometry) for both PCVR and Quest, but should have implemented higher textures for PCVR.
@ReaperzVR24 күн бұрын
Everything you said is exactly what I said in the video, so I'm unsure what you disagree with. The PCVR version has better lighting, shadows, and the textures are only slightly better, but could have had higher resolution textures. The texture options in the PCVR version do absolutely nothing. It's great on the Quest and Steam, but I recommend buying the quest version if you have a quest and a VR capable PC as it offers both Quest standalone and PCVR via Quest PC app due to it being Cross-Buy.

Psvr2 absolutely annihilates the quest 3 in every way and is on sale currently for 349 if you have a ps5 this is the best of both worlds cause you can also buy the adapter and link to PC
@ReaperzVR12 күн бұрын
And the Quest 3 offers standalone gaming without a PC or console. And can also connect to a PC without any additional adaptors or links. So while the PSVR2 graphics may be better than the Quest 3 graphics, the standalone features of the Quest 3 set it apart from everything else and is in its own catagory without much competition.

I don't think that Metro on Quest 3 looks good at all. There is a strange flickering, most obvious on the opening text and menu screen when I move my head slightly, but it was also present in my peripheral view in the actual game. It could be FFR or ASW. It really bothered me. I tried to tweak it with Quest Games Optimizer but it just made it drop frames, and cause more pop in. The trouble is, if the problem that I am seeing is caused by an issue with ASW, I can't fix it with Quest Games Optimizer. QGO actually appeared to have no positive effects at all which is really strange. Some content creators report that the game is actually running at 36 fps upscaled to 72 with ASW, so tweaking the frame rate in Quest Games Optimizer will not help as the ASW is apparently embedded deep into the game architecture, so it would be a big deal to fix with a Quest 3 enhancement, therefore unlikely. My only option is to play the PC version, but I can't, so I returned it. Having played Red Matter 2, Arizona Sunshine Remake and Batman, I expected the same or better from Metro.

I've seen a few people have issues like you're stating, but I haven't experienced any of them on the quest. I did have some slight glitching on the PCVR version, kinda laggy, jittery, but in the video playback it was fine, so I just put it down to recording and possibly network issues. I'll keep a more focused look out next time I play for sure.

So I bought this game on Quest 3, played it, and had really bad performance issues with it. A lot of texture swap pop-in, especially in the fire in the barrel at the start, was the biggest one. Also, the lack of body calibration for height and length was very frustrating. My height and arm being so out of proportion with the characters’ proportions broke immersion faster than any other game I’ve played in vr to the point I couldn’t even make it past the introduction to the game. I ended up refunding it because it was frankly uncomfortable to play.
@ReaperzVR25 күн бұрын
That's odd, as I haven't encountered any performance issues or texture popping on the quest 3. When did you refund it? There has been multiple hotfixes since release.

@@ReaperzVR I did hear a while ago that some Quest 3 headsets had an overheating issue or something of that sort from a manufacturing defect when assembling the cooler to the Quest 3. I don’t know if that was true or not, but it was kind of a buzz topic in a Discord for a game I was following for a while.
@ReaperzVR25 күн бұрын

I refunded it on steam. I think my expectations were too high. I love the other games in the series and I was expecting the PC version to have that kind of fidelity and the gameplay to be deeper with things like turning off lights to hide in the dark for stealth like you could do in the other games. Unless the game has that later? Because I only played less than 2 hours so I could still refund it.
@ReaperzVR24 күн бұрын
If the game was built only for PCVR I think it would have been different. Cross platforming is the main issue, anything cross platform will never be be as good as a PCVR only game.
