Finding love late in life is not "cute", any more than viewing a redwood tree or a starry sky on a clear night is cute--it's breath-taking and beautiful! Enduring love is a powerful lesson for younger lovers: take notes!

I work as a hospice nurse. One night, I've received an urgent phone call from the daughter of my patient, asking for a visit since her dad started having a hard time breathing. I've rushed there and after a look at the gentleman I knew he was close to dying. I made sure he received medication to make him more comfortable and after a while he calmed down. We sat by his bed and the daughter told me his story. When he was 18, he fell in love with a girl, whose mother was not found of him. Regardless, the girl loved him dearly. However, girl's dad died and mother decided to move to California, despite pleads from the youngsters. They even got engaged, but the mother never changed her plans. She moved with her daughter and severed all contacts. Years passed, this man got married, had 5 daughters. A few years after his wife's death, he decided to attend his old high school reunion. And there she was... his young love. They got together and fell in love again. She was divorced, never felt happy in life. They were discussing marriage, but this gentleman got sick, she couldn't even visit due to her own ailments, but they kept on calling each other. While I was listening to daughter's story, I got this feeling, that we have to contact this woman. The daughter called her, I took the phone and told her what's going to happen soon. Then we put the phone to his ear and she was able to say one last time how much she loved him. He became very calm... and shortly after that he'd died, peacefully. He needed to hear her one more time. Till now it makes me smile through tears...

A soul mate is someone who mates with your soul. For me it s a person i come home to and tell all my ups ans downs.. now idk if we are soul mates that made an agreement before coming to earth to find eachother and b together but we love eachother, we fight for this relationship bcs it s not all sunshine and butterflyes and honey and milk, so be careful not to idealise relationships. Just be open to all posibilities. I always though that my soulmate will have a day job ans he d love books and etc, turns out he s a freelancer and loves like 1 book only 😂 life susprised me and i embraced it just the same

81 miserable fools now. I met my love in 1983. She was a senior at UGA while I was a Police Officer only 26. That summer we had a world wind romance but at the end of the year while she was on winter break I was on my way to LA for the Olympics. The training was strenuous and I didn't hear from her except somehow I received something forwarded by mail. At the end of the Games I came back to UGA and when I called her I heard she had just gotten married. I was heart broken for the rest of my life and never ever had another romance. I talk to her once by phone on her 44th birthday. She was divorced from two marriages having had three boys. As a Catholic she told me before if she did get married she'd never do it again. I never did talk to her again after that. I'll wait for the next go round.
@1kitts5 жыл бұрын
@@mtsflorida Oh boy. Well that's a little different in that you guys are in touch (though not constantly), yet she still got married twice. Correct me if I'm wrong. But if that is how it goes, the feelings probably aren't neutral. You love her to pieces, but she may not be so head over heels with you. I'll say, get on with your life. Will take time to get over, but you'll be fine with time. Hugs

That's what you call a Soul Bond/Soul Family!! Nothing can separate that type of bond. Nothing!!! Our choices however, determine if what God has purposed will come to fruition. To think that they were robbed of 50 years together is a bit hard on the heart. I know they went on to have spouses/children, but it does make me think twice that her father's decision to prevent her from seeing her one true love ultimately prevented what God had originally intended. In the end though, God's will was ultimately done and who am I to guess what the good Lord is thinking or planning! I wish the happy couple many years full of blessings, joy and laughter 🙏💕😇

To Seattle harbour about a 2 hour drive. And my German sailor Volker was on board,so we spend some time together, and than we left back to NrW Westminster,B.C. I never really dated and I wàs super shy,but we wrote to each other for 2 years and that. I wrote my German sailor in July 1965 a good bye letter and married another Dec25,1965 which U regret to this day. Even though we were married 17 years,he was not a nice person,a wife abuser.than in 1985 I tried to reach him,my beloved German sailor,hoping he had a heathy,happylife,I was divorced already 3 years ¹982 divorce was final.The o my address I had was his parents address.No reply,2nd letter I registered and the answer I got from his MOTHER,leave him alone.That was that,there was nothing I could do a tomorrow,his mother probably threw my letters in the garbage. That is a sweet story, and I wouldn’t wish anything but happiness for them. But I can’t help but feel bad for the deceased spouses who never had their whole hearts. Of course, I know nothing about their previous marriages.
@2ndhandSue5 жыл бұрын
After watching this I believe they are both the kind of people who gave their whole hearts to their spouses and were loving and devoted to their families. There are many, many stories similar to this one that came out of the War years. Many other couples who were separated when the men were deployed; getting letters to enlisted men was difficult as they were stationed and moved all over the world. In the end, some of those relationships just flickered out because of this lack of communication, and many times the women had no idea where their men were or even if they were still alive. Just as Betty Jean said to herself way back then - "Well, life goes on. I'd better get on with things". The miracle is that they both found themselves alone 50 years later and that Betty Jean was bold enough to make that phone call! Their years together will be fewer than they had initially hoped for, but will probably be that much richer.
@DelbertTritsch5 жыл бұрын
2ndhandSue To your thoughts, I certainly believe love is more of a decision than an emotion.
@2ndhandSue5 жыл бұрын
@@DelbertTritsch - I think "love" was defined in vastly different ways in the 1940's than it is today. It was more of a decision back then, and is more of an emotion now - sometimes a very juvenile emotion. Women like Betty Jean understood their future lay in finding a "good" man who was a hard worker, had decent morals and would make a steady father. They also understood that by the age of 25 they would start to be considered as "old maids", second choice wives. She had to let go of her melting heart for Otto and get practical. She dated a number of men, one proposed to her, he met her criteria for a husband, they got married, had children, built a life, and had respect and "love" for one another, although it may not have been the "soft kisses" and "stomach butterflies" kind of love that she had had for Otto. Today, everything seems to be more about the "wedding" than the "marriage". It's all seen as soft kisses and stomach butterflies and seldom anything more sturdy or everlasting - hence the reason for the 50% divorce rate that is the norm now. There might have been something boring and less than fairytale fodder when your man left the house at 4:00 a.m. and came back in at 6:00 p.m. covered in axle grease, dirt and cow manure, and you were exhausted from scrubbing laundry in a tub and running it through the mangler while 5 kids under the age of 6 hung around your ankles all day, but it was a partnership, unspoken, a "business" to keep the farm and home intact, always 50 cents short and a day late with the bills. Now, the minute the "soft kisses" and "stomach butterflies" turn to accusations, infidelities, lying and total emotional separation, the divorce papers show up. I doubt that either Betty Jean or Otto ever considered divorcing their spouses no matter how horrific the day(s) had been. They would have been dumbfounded at the suggestion that maybe they'd be better off apart - it just wasn't part of the "decision" they had made. I'm glad for Betty Jean and Otto that they got to experience BOTH kinds of love - "decided" love and emotional love.

Im feeling the same thoughts as you. Firstly i thought they were going to have lots of grandchildren. Never expecting them to be married to another.
