totally understand where you're coming from, same as you, i have both australian and hong kong citizenship, and I cannot imagine any of them being taken away from me. I think for years, having both of them led to a lot of inner-searching of cultural identity and i have finally come to a point where i am happy with where i stand in them and how they define me. This must have been so difficult for you and my heart goes out to you ❤

I stumbled upon this video by accident and subscribed. I will tell you a little bit about my story so you can maybe feel better, or at least have a different POV. I was born in the USA, raised in Latin America (two different countries), and then I returned to the USA for university and then stayed to work. I’ve struggled with the exact same issues you described in the video (with the exception of having to renounce citizenship). All of my life I have questioned… What am I? Am I American or a foreigner who just happened to be born in America? What I realized is you need to be proud of your story as a whole. Even though the USA has many Latinos, almost none of them lived in two different Latin American countries and speak perfect Spanish. I’m guessing you’re Australian of Singaporean descent and maybe you lived in Singapore for some time. Well, not many Australians have that story. So own it, because even if you don’t have the Singaporean citizenship officially, your roots are still there. Your family ties are priceless. I hope this comment made you feel or at least think differently! Don’t be sad, be happy :-)

I’m a bit late to this video, but I just want to say that your feelings about having your citizenship revoked are completely valid. Some of the other comments feel a bit dismissive, like saying you don’t need ethnicity/citizenship to live your life and its not a big deal-but the truth is, your ethnicity and culture shapes so much of who you are and the way you experience the world. Citizenship can be such a meaningful representation of your connection to your roots, but it need not be the only one. I hope you know that with or without it, your culture and everything it has given you will always be a part of you, no matter where you are. Wishing you all the best. 💛

Yo, your value isn't determined by your ethnicity. That's sweating the small stuff. The bigger question is, are you happy and content with who you are as a human being? All that other stuff is a distraction. If you are doing your best, that's good enough for the cosmos. Theres no blueprints to life or the human experience. Don't be too hard on yourself. The universe will cease to exist one day, so it's all good! Thanks for sharing your experience. I feel the same ways, at times, the exhaustion of existence and the guilt that comes with varying degrees of self-introspection. Its all good though, you're doing your best bud.

its not that uncommon really. pretty much all the korean americans around me gave up their citizenships and honestly thats more of a privilege than not having an american citizenship at all…youre not special and its really not that deep

You don’t need ethnicity to live your life just appreciate yourself and move on with your life.

my beautiful jade, i so appreciate your vulnerability. you are so strong and i’m sorry that this revocation has hurt you so deeply ❤️🩹 i wish i could just curl up in bed with you and we could watch movies and talk. i love you jade and its hard right now but it wont be forever, your citizenship has nothing to do with the beautiful, talented, multifaceted loving human being you are today. ❤
