People who served in the army like General Motau should be minister of Defence, not the cadre deployment that the ANC is doing.

This is the man who should be the minister of defense, rwanda wants to annex congo's territory. And they attacked south african army in their base. And now they're everywhere on every platforms laughing at south africa bragging that they killed south Africans. South africa must show them who's really the boss, south africa is the biggest and leading country in the continent, it's respect should be due.

I am a "Christian soldier" for the Gospel of Peace in Kisangani by choice. Sent by the Body of Christ in South Africa. Christian friends with family in Goma tell me that citizens are trapped indoors. No water, food, electricity, Internet and looking after displaced refugees. There are many obstacles and challenges in the Upper Congo River region too, with many villages either unreached, undiscipled, overlooked or neglected. City and town Christians are reluctant to leave the Sunday pews and to apply Romans 10:9-15 in practice. Perpetuated wars, riots and suffering do not help, especially where the Church had lost its saltiness. Christians in Africa, awake, rise, shine! Let us be serious about an Africa for Christ and peace in the DR Congo! Go ye!

I agree with the Former General, right now we look weak and we are a laughing stock... how can we not respond when our servicemen are dying at the hands of M23/RDF. It's clear that they have crossed a Red line like the General said. When SANDF first received reports of Casualties they should have responded with Force... but yet they are reluctant to do so (or maybe they are responding and that's why things are being kept so quiet.)

Sometimes, it's better to lure the evil guys into making mistakes. If the coalition had attacked the rebels for no reason, UN Rwanda would have blamed them a lot. Now there's a justifiable reason.

The SADEC is the richest and the heart of Africa region. This war in the DRC is complex. There's no M23 rebels. It's an association of different countries behind this genocide. The war is something else even America can loose the war. SADEC we should give more capacities to our defense forces.

At minute 9:33, General Motau perfectly represents Ramaphosa's and South African leaders' attitude to the complex issues of Eastern Congo: they "know" it is Kagame's fault. History and facts on the ground that would prove otherwise don't matter to them. Do they think that they can have a military base litteraly 500m from Rwanda's border, cooperating with, gathering intelligence for, and supplying forces that have committed genocide in Rwanda and/or swear to attack Rwanda, but Kagame should accept that because it is done by almighty South Africa? South Africa's next mistake in this matter will turn a local conflict into a regional war. With such leaders, no wonder why South Africa is ailing.

If SA withdraw from the front line of this war I dont think they deserve to be seen as leader in the region and Africa... Small army with budget like Zimbabwe, Angola and Namibia saved Kinshasa... Zimbabwe was in Kinshasa, Kasai region and Kivu, Angola in Kinshasa and Kivu and Namibia was in Kivu, they saved Kinshasa because the rebels was in Kinshasa trying to pull out Desire Kabila... SA must work really in their defence force, In Central Africa the boys were killed easy by rebels' force. How Tanzania there are in the same field and not crying?!

General Motau. If you haven’t learnt a lesson yet, do dar to come to Goma and fight M23. You will return to SA in coffin. You are talking from your arse. It’s not the resource you need, you need to get out of Congo cos your soldiers have no cause to die for.
@mugishabs13 сағат бұрын
you are retired and your mind is also retired. go and change your dipper old man.
This interview featuring former SANDF General Maomela Motau exposes a dangerously flawed narrative on the DRC-M23 conflict. "We knew that situation, we knew that Rwanda has the intention of hiving of the Kivu into Rwanda... we knew that they will not give up to do it...": Motau claims Rwanda seeks to annex Kivu, a notion commonly propagated by certain Congolese leaders to justify their failures in addressing internal governance issues. By scapegoating Rwanda instead of discussing the real causes of the M23 rebellion, he misleads audiences to avoid scrutinizing DRC’s political instability and ethnic marginalization. "We have been made mediocre, we have been made beggars, ..." "We have been attacked ...": this assertions that South African troops were attacked ignore the original mandate of SAMIDRC, which was to assist the Congolese government against M23. What they did indeed. By framing Rwanda as an aggressor, he intends to conceal miscalculation done while sending the troop and seek international sympathy/support (go back to communiques and news published during the coming of SAMIDRC). "We know president Kagame very well, we know...": Moreover, his rigid stance against President Kagame reflects preconceived biases, reinforcing a narrative that disregards Rwanda’s counterarguments. Rather than fostering constructive dialogue, his statements dangerously amplify geopolitical tensions in the region. As audience who loves Newzroom Africa, we expect the media upholding truth and challenge such misleading rhetoric to prevent further discord. Thank you.
