It's a bit ridiculous here in the US. I work in banking and the things required for opening and questions asked is a bit overly cumbersome even for US citizens but especially foreign persons.

What about UK London banking system is it same as Switzerland or EU or will it change with Brexit ?

Every financial institute has a compliance and a risk department. The risk department decides whether the benefits of taking on a PEP as a client outweighs the risk said client might pose to the company. The compliance department has to make sure that the company complies with the jurisdiction's rules and regulations. The last thing a bank wants is the millions coming from the president of Equatorial Guinea's son who's under investigation in Paris for corruption and embezzlement of public funds in his own country!
