I'm a junior pastor. We go on the street, evangelize, and raise funds in the cold in America. When i asked a senior pastor over me, why we remit funds every month to headquarters in Africa, he said i can't ask questions. Special contributions for G.O's birthday, his wife, his numerous court cases, and members that had kids for him that gets paid handsomely to be quiet monthly. What do you guys need all these money for? The Lord will judge you.

Giving does not have to be a percentage. You give as you are led by the Holy Spirit since you are a believer. If you are not a believer you are still under the yoke of mammon and it will be hard for you to give selflessly or without making noise about it. God wants us to have a healthy conscience in whatever we do. Giving is for the welfare of the believers in the local congregation, including the Pastor or leader. Ideally there should be a committee that oversees the finances as we have in the book of Acts. But the lure of the flesh and attraction of the leadership by mammon makes it difficult for the leadership to work selflessly for the glory of God and the benefit of the congregation, and especially so that unbelievers will not have anything evil to say or blaspheme about the Church.

Don't forget also that the tithe is eaten (Animals, plants, drinks, etc) and you tithe every 3 years. Deuteronomy 14:26-29 26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household, 27 And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee. 28 At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates: 29 And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
