This Christmas, some questions matter more.
Real connection is the most beautiful gift. That`s the essence of Deutsche Telekom`s international Christmas campaign 2023. The advertisement "Questions that matter connect us more" portrays the typical Christmas scenario: once a year, the family gets together for the most beautiful celebration of the year. There is a joyfulness to seeing each other again, but it is also met with prior expectations. Only one question really matters: “Are you happy?” It is the first international campaign under Deutsche Telekom's new claim: "Connecting your world.”

Is there any version - apart from the German one for Germany - which mentions the boyfriend of the protagonist? It's somewhat sad that Telekom censors that in every other country except for Germany. Sure, in some places they sadly have to do this for legal reasons (such as Hungary). But really, they made a seperate German video for Austria with the "international default" text, but otherwise not really targeted to Austria? Though the slovak version is also quite "explicit".

Slovak version says "not looking for a girl", so not explicitly queer

I wouldn't say that Slovak advertisment is explicit, rather annoying. He sings about how he doesn't want a girl, what a difficult evening awaits him... and what exactly does it have to do with Telekom? Where does the advertisement mention their services, mobiles, anything?

@@dyzainer_modding I don't know about your countries, but in Germany, it is quite common that big companies have a more "deep" spot around the Christmas season. Couple of years ago, a big supermarket chain e.g. made a spot about loneliness of old people. The advertisement effect isn't reached by "oh great they have a good offer, let's buy it", but rather by making people think about issues that are not that far away from them, raising sympathies for the company as "more human". Also, if people talk about the campaign, that gets your company into the brains of people again.

The hardest question bit is the only bit I like. The rest is just forced humour, dad jokes... I've seen the commercial in four different languages, I understood the lyrics in all four. It's just not very funny. Other than that, I like the overall theme/sentiment of the ad, and I especially like gran's question.

While it has the same video, the song text is significantly different at the section about the aunt, which roughly translates as "and auntie looks for a wife for me, seems like she doesn"t know me so well". Instead of the "Somebody please rescue me", he sings "luckily Sven isn"t here today" - with Sven being a male first name common in the age of the protagonist, and while it is not explicitly said, he very likely means his boyfriend. Austria has a different version, which is basically this one, but in German. Personally, I prefer the Germany version as it is somewhat more personal and less superficial. Anyway, I think Telekom did a good job reminding people on Christmas what attitude might be problematical for some guests at family gatherings.

Máte milné predstavy. Všetci z môjho okolia tu reklamu milujú, lenže nikto z nich nejde kričať do komentárov. Lenže ľudia ktorí chcú vidieť všade propagandu, si ju všade nájdu a idu sa poľutovať nad niečim, čo ani sa ani netýka ich názoru. Všetko sú to súkromné spoločnosti, takze vaše sťažnosti ich naozaj nemusia trápiť, len kvôli tomu že ste prízemní. Na záver, prajem vám pekne Vianoce a aby ste nehľadali nepriateľov tam, kde nie sú a nerobili svet horším miestom svojou bezdôvodnou nenávisťou.

asi to bude tým, že volakto chcel silou mocou na vianoce kontroverziu vetami typu - o dievca nemam zaujem alevo spermie, nezdá sa mi ani v anglickej ani nemeckej verzii že by to takto hrotili a nemal som vôbec dojem v týchto verziách, že by tu išlo o buzíka, skôr o chalana čosi chce ako študent radšej užívať ako zakladať rodinu. Na začiatku sa dozvieš, že ešte nedoštudoval, čiže keď to tu agentúry prestanú hrotiť tak budú aj reakcie pozitívnejšie.

Si myslíte, že keď pridáte toľko interpunkcie, tak budete pôsobiť dôležitejšie? A ako reklama, ktorej úmyslom je hovoriť o vzájomnom rešpekte, ničí vianočnú atmosféru? A čože je to to nemecké klasické dedičstvo? Narozdiel od nás sa dokázali vyrovnať s minulosťou a sú omnoho tolerantnejší ako Vy. Takže odporúčam Vám aby ste boli menej obmedzená a vzťahovačná.
