Quests From the Infinite Staircase: Worth Your Money?

The Wizards from the Coast have just released Quests From the Infinite Staircase, and I’m going to talk at you about it. I’ll let you know if it’s any good, and particularly, if it’s worth your money.
I will start off with a summary, then tell you what works, tell you what doesn’t work, and give my overall thoughts at the end. Let's do it!

Jorphdan said that Beyond the Crystal Cave was an inspiration for Wild Beyond the Witchlight, and since then I’ve been excited for this book

Anytime I hear of fighters/barbarians and modern/futuristic weaponry, I'm reminded of the videogame Kingmakers and how much I look forward to it 😄 Anyway, I really like reviews for collections like these. Thanks 🙂

I actually really enjoyed this book. I thought "When the Star Falls" was the weakest of the bunch, but otherwise they are solid adventures with some pretty great dungeons. I would definitely run The Lost City, Beyond the Crystal Cave and Expedition to the Barrier Peaks. Tsojcanth and Pharaoh I might loot for parts.

I have all the OG’s and they run easy with Shadowdark.

I found the section on the Infinite Staircase and portals in and out of it rather interesting. I could see it being used for different portals or demiplanes. This could also be used with the Planescape setting and the city of Sigel.

I am glad I watched your review. I wouldn’t buy this first hand to begin with but I was considering getting them when I see it on the second hand market. I just can’t support WotC anymore.

Most of the problems here are the same problems with the original adventures. It's a shame they didn't use the Nafas character to not only provide a storyline... but provide fixes for the original modules.

This whole year's release schedule is just BAD. If I had my new PBH in hand I may want to buy something else but no - I can't justify buying anything until I get that IN HAND (not pre order- actually have in hand). This book (and others this year) is going to tank HARD and it's their own fault.

Maybe it's my dislike for 5e influencing my thinking but even the titles of these books are dumb. Expedition to Barrier Peaks or the Lost City invoke mystery & excitement. Quests From the Infinite Staircase, Tales from the Yawning Portal et al invoke impressions of Potteresque kiddy lit. They're like a titles a 14 year old who's trying too hard would come up with.
