Qui sedes Bach B Minor Mass Iestyn Davies countertenor

This man has a gift. I congratulate him. Although obviously I have not heard them all, I dare to say that this must be THE BEST interpretation of Qui Sedes. This countertenor is not like many others which seem very artificial. This one is very natural. With very natural spontaneous and beautiful vibrato. And with very good dominio and control. With the minimal and very little noticeable exception perceived almost at the beginning a slight detune, which is natural for being a human being and for being in a live performance, its tuning is almost perfect.

Este señor tiene un don. Yo lo felicito. Aunque obviamente no las he oído todas, me atrevo a decir que ésta debe ser LA MEJOR interpretación del Qui Sedes. Este contratenor no es como muchos otros los cuales se perciben muy artificiales. Éste es muy natural. Con vibrato muy natural espontáneo y bellísimo. Y con muy bien dominio y control. Con la mínima y muy poco percibible excepción percibida casi al principio una ligera desafinación, natural por ser un ser humano y por ser en una ejecución en vivo, su afinación es casi perfecta.

So far the best version on KZbin. I always like to listen to women singing this part, but Iestyn is singing it the best so far. I would prefer a slight slower tempo, but I love the light dance-like execution and the expression.

cliff cox Yeh, back in 2012 the BBC Proms started to time performances because of over time costs. We felt that’s exactly why we set this tempo. Had to be out by 10pm. Who ever heard Bach dancing? Rules, eh?!

Davies is great Bach interpreter. Pity about that oboist who plays flat most of the time...send her back to Oboe School!
