Nice setup, it looks pretty stable too. The main issue with building a real wli is the software. As far as I know, there is no open source software available for this purpose.

For me you have the best video about WLI, Jerome!! Keep making videos that we keep watching!!

Thanks Jeroen! It looks stable until my neighbor starts walking around upstairs 😉. I made a simple piece of code last night and actually tested it with the videos of scans from your WLI video. Seems to be workable. I will try implementing it on my setup today. Need to do some calibration first.

@cylosgarage You used the images from the video? That's amazing! Let me know if you need any other specific video footage. I guess though that the most important data to reconstruct a surface is how the images relate to the position of the stage. In my case the ZYGO software takes care of everything but also completely hides it from the user.

@@cylosgarage If the vibration ends up being a big problem, you might be able to use the LED as an ultra-fast shutter by only turning it on for ~10us. That should reduce the displacement actually seen by the camera. You might need a camera with an external trigger though to sync up the pulses. I've been playing around with building a WLI with similar surplus equipment and found that trick in a paper while researching earlier today (10.1364/AO.55.006172 is the paper)

Hi Cylo, could you make the audio way louder? The information is amazing but I need to be able to receive it😅. Just to put it in scale: I listen to almost all YT videos at 20% and your videos at 100% Keep on going, Victor

Sorry about that, that’s just the native audio quality from my phone. For actual planned out videos I use a mic but these are just impulsive vlogs where I pick up my phone while doing something. I’m not a KZbinr I’m just some bozo with a camera and an internet connection. If this project turns into something worth a formal video, I’ll make it sound nice.

Your voice is very faint. The background noise is almost as loud.

So I went into the workshop one weekend and knocked up an inferernometer. As you do!
