I can't believe the dealer is employing yeawho's who can't figure out how to put a Charger on a lift? I just bought my first Scat Pack Charger yesterday. So thanks for posting this video. As you, I prefer to do the jobs on my vehicles that I can. I knew a lady who brought her vehicle to a garage where they only filled the crankcase half full and didn't re-install the oil fill cap. By the way, no more Hemi V-8's after 2023. Get 'em while you still can.

Seriously! But in today's world. They hire anyone they can because help is so hard to find. Wow that's crazy! No place can be trusted, it's too bad. But I hope this video helped you, and others! Yes absolutely. It's a sad time we're in. No more cool V8s 😌

Better to pre-fill the new filter, and don't forget to empty the catch can and reset the oil life monitor.
@TboneSRT Жыл бұрын
Good tips, although pre filling the filter is not necessary. Doesn't hurt but is not something that has to be done either 😎

@@TboneSRT Actually there is data indicating that it is NOT good and that it may hurt the engine
@TboneSRT4 ай бұрын
@user-ju7dy5od9r I hate to tell you, but in the step by step oil change procedures written by dodge, nowhere does it say to pre fill the filter. All it says is to " Lightly lubricate the NEW oil filter gasket with clean engine oil." And then moves into the next step which is "Thread the oil filter onto the oil cooler (2) oil filter boss". Modern engine oil pumps pump out more than enough volume that it's not necessary to pre fill.
@357-e2r4 ай бұрын
@@TboneSRT It doesn't matter how much it pumps, objectively you're running the engine with no oil pressure which is pretty much the worst possible thing you can do. But to each their own lol, you just looked kind of amateur-ish so I figured I'd mention it. Being open-minded instead of combative will get you much further in life. Have a good day D-Bone

@user-ju7dy5od9r not being combatative, I'm relaying the step by step procedures written by Dodge. I'll listen to the people who make the car vs someone on the internet. If it was a requirement, don't you think they would have stated to do it?

@sagirius I mean if you reaaalllyy tried hard enough, you could probably get them off without destroying them as much as I did. Or you can pull the bumper and get to them from the back side. But I knew I would never put the factory ones back in so I didn't care much haha

@@TboneSRT yeah as long as the new ones fit without any issues. Thing is I'm weird too with my car, it's a 23 slim body scat charger, I just don't like the idea of breaking anything off lol, even if I don't plan on using it again. Maybe as the car gets older, but I want some of those , don't want to take the bumper off either. Guess I don't want them just yet lmao, thanks man.

You need to use torque wrench for tightening your oil drain plug , on 20 ft/lbs of torque

Not bad practice but not necessary. I've been wrenching for over 15 years and I've never once torqued a drain plug. For someone who isn't sure of when tight is tight, I'd advise it!

Why did my dealer try to push an oil additive that’s “factory recommended/required” when I read all recommendations when I got the car and no where did it advise an oil additive to my recollection. I turned it down because he said they do it on every dodge/chrysler motor at 6k mile intervals.
@TboneSRT Жыл бұрын
Just another way for the dealer to make money my friend. The car is factory filled with the SRT pennzoil 0w40 so that's what I put back in it and nothing else!
@258shoff Жыл бұрын
@@TboneSRT they had the nerve to put “ denied factory required maintenance” on my receipt for that oil additive, I might have to call Dodge to see if they’re going to hold it against me on my warranty now

@258shoff yeah I've never heard of that. I wouldn't sweat it, you have proof of oil change. If for whatever reason, knock on wood, you had an engine failure, you could get dodge involved and I bet they'd take care of it. Or just go to another dealer if something were to happen

I use the white SRT filter on my Scat Pack. Not sure it even matters.
@TboneSRT Жыл бұрын
It's a fine filter. I prefer the black one only because it has a higher flow rate. Less filtration than the white one but flow rate is important with these engines because they have such low oil pressure at idle. If you change your oil often, the lower filtration part is not an issue.

DONT IMMEDIATELY START THE ENGINE AFTER CHANGING THE OIL!!!!!! instead, put the gas and brake pedal to the floor, then try to start the car - it will run the starter motor for 10 seconds (slowly rotating the crank, building oil pressure) without fully firing up the engine. Much much much better for these finicky HEMIs

@TheOriginalPyroBEAST wouldn't hurt but not necessary, the oil pump pumps oil instantly. The manual doesn't even mention doing that haha

There is not a better oil except ams oil! One and only oil that comes close. Please watch project farms for proof.

I watched the video, according to project farm, this oil and the amsoil are neck to neck. I'll stick with the cheaper of the 2 that's approved by the OEM. I only go 2k on oil changes and the only advantage the amsoil has is it takes longer to break down vs the pennzoil which doesn't apply to me since I change it so frequently. Lol
