Love your video / tutorial Michele. You sketch beautifully! I love the vintage look you gave these. Your colors are perfect! I've had the same trouble with the tape sticking but I learned from someone that you can use a heat dryer, such as what you'd use to dry your painting and it works to loosen the tape easily. That, as well as sticking the tape to a piece of your clothing before applying it to your paper. I think the heat drying one works best for me because it also helps to solidly dry your painting. Thank you.

A blow dryer also works great to apply heat to soften up the tape. The brand of watercolor paper also comes into play. It is more likely to pull apart because it’s fiber based.

Nice tags! Just a tip: to keep the painters' tape from ripping the paper, apply tape to a piece of fabric first. Remove it from the fabric and then apply to your paper. It removes some of the adhesive. Hope this works for you. :)

@@hallorican No, as it still adheres but doesn't rip the paper when removing the tape.

You can also heat the tape with a heating tool prior to pulling it off, and pull away from the painting very slowly. That may help as well as fabric trick. Pull the tape off the roll, hold it from each end and apply/hold it against your jeans and pull off a couple times before taping your paper down. It will help remove some of the stickiness on the tape.

If you apply a heat gun to the tape the glue will soften and tape will come right off

Gorgeous tags! If you heat the tape with a heat gun as you are pulling it up, it will reduce the tearing.😊

When you use your tape, run it across your thigh and it gets rid of some of the stickiness. Also for those skinned area, lick your finger and rub across the scrape and it does wonders with camouflaging the scrape! Love the quickness of this technique. As usual, beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing!

Michelle, these tags are absolutely fantastic! I do my Christmas projects in July, so have been doing some research! So glad I found this! I have found applying a little heat from my heat gun loosens the tape and U experience less tearing. Got that wonderful tioe from Nina Ribena. It works extremely well on getting labels off shipping boxes I want to up cycle, too!! TFS. 🙏🥰. Love your work it is always brilliant!!!

Love these tags! Very 🥰 cute. I just use regular masking tape and if I think it’s too sticky I blot it on my jeans. It picks up lint and then it’s not too sticky.😊

This is a great idea and the end result is beautiful. I love the sketchy watercolour look. You could also use Christmas stamps with waterproof ink for the images if you weren't so confident with drawing. Thank you for sharing.

FYI The names of Windsor Newton are printed on the sides of the pans. I just bought thirteen of your images from Etsy to help me practice sketching as I've never tried it before. Having actual sketches at hand will help so much, you did such a beautiful job!!

Fabulous video. Love this technique. I showed a group of friends this technique this summer out camping. They all loved it. A tip to get the tape off is to heat it up with a heat tool. We even used ahair dryer. Blessings from Alberta Canada 🇨🇦
