Quick video for those out there who are into 1/6 scale kit bashing and making custom figures. This is just a couple simple quick fix ideas for those having some trouble with head sculpts that may not fit onto the neck plugs/ ball joints on their figures. These are permanent fixes, so this can either be a good thing or bad depending on what you want out of your figure. But for display purposes, this technique should work out just fine for you. The Obadiah head is by Hot Toys and the suit and body are by Soldier Story 1/6 Man In Suit figure. Be sure to check out Sean's channel for some great 1/6 scale ideas at:

Started into 1/12 Scale, bought body/head separate, head did NOT come with a connector. Thankfully I came across your video and had some Tac sitting around. It isn't perfect but much better. finding 1/12 scale items can be tricky and I still haven't found any neck/head connectors sold separately.

The bearded sculpt is Obadiah Stane from the Hot Toys Iron Monger. Suit is from the Soldier Story Man in Suit figure with a similar Obadiah head sculpt with different expression. You can search ebay for these or search under Jeff Bridges 1/6 head.

I use tubing for a lot of things. Soak the tubing in a cup of hot water, fit it over wooden dowels of gradual thickness until you work up to the size you need to fit it over. It generally works up to one and a half times its original thickness without splitting or sacrificing it's integrity. Nice video by the way.

Hello. I have problems with heads and necks. I have a fat body I would like to use, but I didnt find any head it work on it. ive try with about a dozen of head and the neck adaptor and theres not a way to fix it. The neck is a bit too long so the head most fit is the one you show in the video but still looks weird because that, neck is long. The problem I use to find is a head than has a head itself but the body has it too. I find some bodies without neck but quality is low, lile a maniqui without any detail. Theres a way to cut the neck or something?

@MarlotheCollector
@MarlotheCollector Жыл бұрын
If you can't get another peg joint that is smaller somehow by searching ebay or other such places, the only other thing I can think of is just investing in a dremel tool and use that to enlarge the hole in the headsculpt.
@paulshallbetter1080

Thanks Marlo. The heads are all GACToy; no removable plug that I can see. Too tight to fit the ball joint on the top of my TBLeague 1/6 female body sculpts. I hoped to be able to relax the plastic using hot water; I don't want to destroy another $35.00 GACToys head. I've lready broken two of them (GC034A). Again, thanks for the ideas.
@MarlotheCollector
@MarlotheCollector 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it sounds like you can't really do anything about the TBLeague ball joint, so the only thing that you could work with is the hole in the head to fit on better. If you happen to dremel the hole too big, you can then try something like the tubing in this video or just use some tacky putty to tighten it up for a better fit. Again, just some ideas and I hope you can figure out a solution that will work for you. Good luck..!

Great video ... gave me some good ideas for head swaps. Have a question for you ... I have a Hot Toys Leia figure and want to add feet to it. When I remove the boots, all that's left is a peg of some sort with a rounded end. I was hoping it would easily come out but seems to be stuck up inside the lower part of the leg (at the ankle joint) pretty deep.Do you have any suggestions on removing the peg? I tried using pliers but was afraid of either damaging the peg or snapping the rounded tip right off.
@MarlotheCollector
@MarlotheCollector 6 жыл бұрын
Hmm.. Wish I could help you with this one, but without actually seeing it myself, it's hard for me to even suggest what to try. Is it the New Hope Leia or Hoth Leia? I have the New Hope version but not with me, so I guess I still can't help you... :( Sounds like the peg might be fixed in there, so unless you can just swap the entire body to something else that will suit your project, I'm not sure what else you can do aside from possibly breaking it. Maybe swap the body and use that old Leia body for some other project instead.

Marlo, did you glue or adhere the piece of rubber tubing to the inside of the head? If so, what kind of adhesive did you use? I’m doing a similar alteration on a custom head onto a 1:6 figure, but I had to manually dremel out a void in the head so the ball would fit. I plan to do what you did; use a piece of rubber tubing glued to the inside of the head, which will fit snugly onto the ball! I’m just not sure what type of glue to use! It’s vinyl tubing going inside a polymer clay head! Thanks so much (:

One quick suggestion, so that the head does not favor one side, (left or right) try putting the tubing portion in either the front or back of the neck void. Additionally, I have seen many an adapter available on-line, should you prefer to not make one yourself.

Well, ideally the head will fit on the ball joint just fine, but in the cases that it won't this is a technique that will help with that problem. The good thing is that it's not really a permanent thing, so you can always still take the head off if you need to in the future.

+emarae do you have any advice for hot toys loose foot joints? It's the body of the figure and it's very loose, any advice?
@MarlotheCollector
@MarlotheCollector 9 жыл бұрын
TopTundra If you're talking about the foot ball and plug set up, then what I usually do is drop a bit of super glue on the ball and plug it in the socket and wiggle it around until the glue dries. Don't leave it in place or else it will glue in place. The idea is to build a little layer of glue around the ball to create more friction and tighten that ball and socket connection. If it doesn't work the first time or you need it tighter, drop another layer of super glue and do the same thing until it seems to get tight enough. Again, be sure to keep moving it around while it dries and not have it glued in one place!

Anyone know a method for modifying a figures head that's fused with the neck as one piece? I would love to know a way to have the neck and head be separated....
@MarlotheCollector
@MarlotheCollector 3 жыл бұрын
I've done this before using an xacto knife/ hobby knife to carefully cut the neck away from the head sculpt. I suggest warming up the head with something like a blow dryer and then carefully cutting away. Don't cut to close to the head at first as you can always cut away more later, but if you cut too much off, you can't go back. Hopefully when you're done it will fit over a neck, but you'll probably need some further modding such as in this video to connect to the new neck joint/ connector.

I have never seen a Dennis Farina head sculpt or figure, so I don't think there is one..? As for Al Pacino figure, I only have a couple Scarface figures, but no other version like from Heat. I don't know if they made one for Heat, but maybe since there is one for DeNiro and Kilmer. I've seen custom figures for Michael Corleone from the Godfather which is a younger Pacino.

Hi I new on this, I begin to investigated how to make an articulated doll for my niece (I make dolls with cold porcelain but their bodies haven't joints , they don't move) I wanted to ask to anybody who knows, a head like this on the video doesn't fall, the tube is what helps you move it without falling or popping out?, Because I can make a skeleton with balls at the end of each joint, but I'm still thinking in what to use to hold that ball and still be mobile, it has to be homemade, because they don't sell those ball joints sets in my country thanks to anybody with ideas to share
