I headed out to the Blue Mountains to finally visit one of the many slot canyons I’d heard about upon returning from Utah.
I have visited this area once before and the walk alone is absolutely awesome. At the time, I could see the area in which people would abseil down into the canyon, but it’s taken me essentially a year to get a date locked in and finally climb down in the canyon to explore. The area captured in the below video & photos is called Grand Canyon, and it’s one of the most beautiful (accessible) canyons to explore in the Blue Mountains - although apparently not the best (that one will be my next visit). The canyon includes an abseil down, followed by a combination of scrambling over rocks, balancing whilst walking along fallen (often submerged) trees, swimming in ice cold waters and hiking the beautiful path in and out of the canyon area (beware: stairs 😉). Snakes are also a very common sight in the canyon but I wasn’t overly sad that they remained unseen during this little adventure (although a snake or two might have made the video’s dramatic music more in line with the actual exposure to danger 😝).
Not a bad way to spend a Saturday! I’m really keen to head out again and do some longer climbs, water jumps and just see more of the beautiful Blue Mountains.
A big thanks to @eaglerockadventures for guiding the day and to the great group of fellow adventurers who endured me as a +1 😂
