@PERTHWESTOZRC5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for stopping by Steve mate, yeah definitely gives these cheap store bought toy grades a boost and better run time.. I made a similar video to this a couple years ago.. This ones aimed towards maybe some new people in the Rc hobby and can get their kids involved on the process of easy DIY mods too :)

Hi nice video. Just bought an RC for my kid and uses AA batteries. Besides voltage what should be taken into consideration before swapping to rechargeable batteries? Does mah has an effect on the circuit board or should be just fine if replaced by >700mah?

Can you run higher voltage on toy grade receivers? I want to grab one of these new app and rc controlled toy grade vehicles from the big box store so that I can use its controls for a 24v/48v ride on car. That way I can always control it even if I forgot the remote but have my phone.
@PERTHWESTOZRC2 жыл бұрын
You can't run too a higher voltage than what is recommended for the toy grade receiver otherwise it will fry the board. For example i only have used a 2s battery which is 7.4v on a toy grade that might have used 4x AA batteries which equals to 6V, or maybe one that uses a 7.2v nimh battery. I would not try use a 11.1v 3s lipo or anything like that cause it will fry the board instantly. Thanks for watching David
@David_Mash2 жыл бұрын
@@PERTHWESTOZRC if the inputs and outputs are non proportional, then should we be able to take the output from the toy grade receiver and activate a relay with high battery voltage?

Aw c'mon Dave, swap out that motor for a 390 and throw a 2S in lol.
@PERTHWESTOZRC5 жыл бұрын
Yep you can still slap in a red jst 2s on that same nicad connector...no 390 motor for this one Paul lol. This is just a quick tip video, for anyone that may be interested in getting a bit more out of these cheap toys for their kids :)

Where did you get the red and black wire to solder to the circuit board? Do you have a description on what it's called? Hard to find on internet.
@PERTHWESTOZRC2 жыл бұрын
They are easy to find everywhere online, just type in red jst connectors male and female, you buy em in 20 pair bundle for a few bucks, very cheap cheers for watching

I have a Revell 24554 rc car which uses 8xAA batteries. Do I need 12v battery? Which is better to use Lipo, nimh or li-ion?
@PERTHWESTOZRC Жыл бұрын
I looked up the car you mentioned and for that i would stick to a 7.4v lipo or lithium battery, a 11.1v lipo would possibly fry the electronics, remember AAbatteries do not have the same power out put as a lipo battery, its much less

I love this idea of improving a cool to the eye cheap rc ! I want to take it up a few notches and see if I could make a sharp looking Kids RC and probably with just what I have laying around make the Super Sleeper! Rebox and open around some folks with the cocky ATM killing cars Your on to something here don't know how I come across your video but it's planted a seed. Now let's watch it grow! This will be fun Except Kmart sad went the way of the dinosaurs in the State's Wal-Marts Believe eat them like a free sample cheese stick! I just did this to a 6v rc before watching this. Cool to see how you did it and know that I'm not breaking the toy. Edit. Now after watching just did it to a very small truck that ran off 2 AA batteries. It's amazing how much better it became and more fun. Just to comfirm what worked for me. 2AA =3.7 VOLT conversion. 4 = 6v.
@PERTHWESTOZRC2 жыл бұрын
Great minds think alike I guess John 👍 haha yeah as long as you don't volt it up too much, going from 6v to 7.4v I have found works with no issues on these toy grade RC's. Thanks for watching and commenting mate 👍
