YIKES....It's so easy it's scary. I kept thinking I am missing something. This was by far the best new product I have used in years. I'm in my 60's and a true amateur. I hung the door BY MYSELF in 10 minutes. Perfect.

Without question the BEST new product in last 10 years !!! I hung 7 doors in 2 hours. I'm not talking about some hollow core composite door....I hung 7 poplar 3 panel fully stained doors. They went up so very simply and never a doubt as to plumb or whether the latch would catch or not. SPOT ON....every time.

That’s great to hear. Me on the other hand, I have no idea what he’s saying or what’s going on. First, is it me or does the door come with a thin frame? Also, I have trim at my house. Do I need to buy that too?

What do you do if the drywall doesn't extend over the studs to be flush with the opening? Do you need to add a spacer of some kind on the face of the stud where you fasten the hanger to the wall?
@slingbart705 Жыл бұрын
Add 1/2" plywood or just use the OG shim method. These are designed for the typical installation.

No way.....The trim goes on perfectly.

No kidding, gonna have to waste 30 seconds of your life to save 15 mins using shims. And then have to fill holes with latex.

I noticed the provided screws have a countersink to it and it doesn’t sit flush with the metal bracket before I do it. Also, we have plaster walls and they are extra thick. Anyone have to buy longer and flat screws from the hardware store instead?

The heads on thr 18 short screws are awful. They don't lock into any bit I've tried - flip as soon as you start the drill.. was about to toss the whole thing in the trash. Had to pre-drill each. Better screws would make this product less frustrating.

I've never run into this issue. Typical #2 Phillips should work. What type of wood is your jamb made of?
@mikelucia5732 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem. The short screws are not good.

Use a #2 (S2) square drill bit, instead of a Phillips bit.

This may seem like a stupid question but can the door still be hung correctly with these brackets on the other side of the jamb (non-hinge side)? I'm installing a door in an existing entryway.
@slingbart7054 жыл бұрын
He says putting them at the hinge "Prevents it from getting out of Plumb". I cannot imagine why you could not mount them as shown? if it's a swinging door you have to able to get to either side to screw in the brackets, also shims can also be used in conjunction. Or are you thinking of putting brackets on both sides of the door for a more secure install? Need more details about the existing doorway: is there an existing jamb? casing? cased opening? drywall return? Or try it and give us the feedback.

@@slingbart705 Wow, thank you so much for the quick reply. But, I actually answered my own question after I thought about it. I am putting a door in a very short hallway that connects 2 rooms so the doors of the 2 rooms can be removed to sort of make 1 room. But, how I answered my own question is that I will be framing it because a 36" door was just too big for the rough opening. So, I'm putting in a 32" door. I will have studs on each side so I will be able to install the brackets on the correct side in the studs 😊 Hope you are staying safe and take care.

Well, door is in! Got the door up pretty quickly. Will never hang a prehung without them ever again. BUT, in some situations you have to shim the crap out of it still to make it secure, like mine which took the most time to make sure it stayed plumb. If it was Sheetrocked on both sides I would have put them on both sides, no shimming required. But thank you again and have a great day.

Do you need any support on the backside?
@slingbart7055 жыл бұрын
they do talk about installing shims if you want to and/or if the doors are heavy. The casing should hold the back side of the jamb from moving.

Don't knock it before you try it. for $6 it is way easier and Faster than shims. Follow the basic rules of Plum, Level, Square and check your margins and you will have a door hung in 10-15 min.
