+Angarette Stuckey Not anymore. As long as you don't tie them too tight and don't let he hair dry out. In my case it's not the rubber bands breaking her hair. It's how she scratches her hair that breaks it. She scratches in frustrating situations(especially school) and she just rips at her hair. She's gotten better and I've had to teach her to pat at her tender age lol. But if rubber bands break ur little ones hair, don't use them or try to not tie them too tight.
