Quick & Easy Crochet Flower Coaster Tutorial | Beginner-Friendly

Hi everyone! Today, I'm sharing with you all a quick and easy crochet pattern for a super cute flower coaster. This pattern can make a rounded flower, or you can add an extra round to make a pointed flower! They are very fast to make once you've made one. A single flower coaster takes me less than 15 minutes! They can make quick gifts or you can sell them. I hope you enjoy my tutorial!
This is a great first project because it's small and uses very little yarn and it's very simple. This pattern uses very simple stitches that most beginners will be familiar with! I tried to make it as basic, easy, and intuitive as I could. For each round of the petal, I show how to crochet along one petal. Then, the pattern repeats itself for the rest of the petals, so it's super easy!
Materials:
Premier Just Cotton yarn from my local Dollar Tree in the colors "Hazelnut," "Faded Denim," "Dusty Rose," and "Sage"
- Weight: Medium (4)
- Fiber: 85% Cotton, 15% Polyester
- Approximate total length (rounded then pointed petals): 17.5 yd / 16 m or 22.75 yd / 20.8 m
- Approximate total weight (rounded then pointed petals): 0.35 oz / 10 g or 0.46 oz / 13 g
5.0 mm Clover Amour Crochet Hook (Amazon affiliate link): amzn.to/3noE9mz
Yarn Needle
Scissors
Dimensions:
Rounded Flower Coaster - 10-11.5 cm
Pointed Flower Coaster - 10-14 cm
Tips:
- Tighten your slip stitches to make the seam smaller and less visible
- The chain 1 or 2 at the beginning of each round does NOT count as a single or double crochet
- Crochet over your loose ends to avoid weaving them in!
- If it won’t lay flat, you’re either missing stitches, your tension is too tight, or you’re using a much larger yarn size. Count your stitches first, and if it’s not the problem, try a larger hook size. If you’re using a much larger yarn size, try 14 double crochets for the first round and increase the same way!

I tried the hayhay crochet tutorial first and it was more difficult to follow along. It took twice as long because there were more single crochets. However, I do like that the single crochets make it more stuff and sturdy feeling. This one is more simple because it’s just single and double and has no half double.

Hello, maybe you've already found the solution for this 😅 but just incase : instead of starting with patern for the 1st row of petals start with the patern for the 2nd row of petals. I hope this is clear

Yes! You can remove the last round and then if you want you can switch the color for the second round to the petal color

I did the same mistake but after 3 essays it got better. My advice is for u to count stitches every round and make sure it’s the same number of stitches like in the video. If u have more stitches (for example 17 instead of 12 double crochets at the start) then it’s gonna be assymetrical and weird looking ! With practice it’ll get way better
