Gazelle all the way, I’ve had mine for over 3 years. At 65, I’m still loving it.

We bought our Gazelle this spring and w hubs at 6'4", the 7' ceiling is WONDERFUL! We don't do any 'rugged' stuff, just state parks. We had heavy winds the first time and the sides didn't collapse. The floor of the Gazelle is 9x9. No poles AT ALL! We put down a tarp first for the footprint then indoor/outdoor carpet as a 'porch' then we put interlocking foam pieces inside for cushion (12 pieces. Harbor Freight has them 4 to a pack for $10/each. I made a carry bag for them out of a tarp from $$tree cut & duct taped, handle was an old garment bag strap strung through a pool noodle☺️). I'm 4'11" & he's 6'4". I set it up before he even got from the car with the wagon. Took me less than 5 minutes. LOVE IT! We also have a 20" high inflatable/deflater thing full size mattress (because I cannot stand trying to hoist myself up from a 6" mattress.) My knees objected! So much for those gymnastics days of the early '80s🤣 We thought we were going to be the only ones what's a gazelle because all we had seen where the traditional tents with the outside poles poles. Then we found a state park that has platform tents sites that are covered with electric and water that are specifically for tents. I haven't found any other campground that has both electric and water but it's specifically for tents. Our walk was 70 ft from the cars and then there were three more sites on our side, and four more tent only sites on the other side of the park and between the sites there was RV parking. It really seemed like they were very considerate with this park in letting the tent sites be covered and a little exclusive into an alcove in the trees. I'm in GA. Nice video! Thanks.

Thannks for the video. I know the problem of having a bad back, my discs have worn down over the years and I now have a lot of leg pain. It's a real nuisance.

I recently used a Kelty Bellarat 4 and it was very easy to put up. It's a little too short. So I'm upgrading to a 6 person tent and it's not hugely expensive. I'm a senior 5 foot 3 inch female.

for years i had an Ozark Darkrest Instant tent 4p. 9x10. it was narrow. recently purchased the T4 Hub Tent 4p. 8x8. it’s a very spacious tent for a senior solo camper, 65 yr old, 5’4. i’m able to carry the 30lb bag a short distance. just had a little trouble pulling on one of the hubs put i managed. i love the 6 windows, 4 huge mesh pockets on each wall & an addition 2 larger mesh pockets to slide in a jacket or sweater. the rods inside can drape fairy lights. fits my sleeping cot, table, chair & cooler. going camping more often😊 oh, i thought the D shaped doors might be a deal breaker but if you can lift your leg and go in sideways then it’s not bothersome at all.

I love your personality and chatty style. 😊 You took a lot of the fear out of it for me in your videos. I might have to resort to a tent, because I bought a small camper trailer and I can’t master backing up into camp spots alone.😢 I wish you’d make a video about that for older ladies who want to hit the road. I bet it would be popular, considering that it’s a skill usually relegated to males.

I have a tiny 5x8 and I detest backing up. But I did learn a trick you might already know.... put your hand on the bottom of the wheel and steer from there. Now you can point the wheel where you want the trailer to go and, so far, it has worked to help my directional dyslexia, lol. The smaller trailers are the hardest to do, so I've been told by the small crowds that gather to watch the side show, hahaha.

The gazelle looks like it might be just the thing for anyone. Thanks for showing both of these, in real time! Gives me a better idea of how they actually set up.

Thanks for watching! The Gazelle is my new favorite tent. Break down was quick and goes back in the bag easily.

Had a gazelle and loved almost everything about it. My son and I got stuck in a bad enough storm - first time using it - that we told everyone to stay home. Until Sunday. We stayed dry and warm w/ our heater. Got meals from Wawa. My kiddo is 6’2” and we had our cots and it was big enough for our lawn chairs too. He needs extra care and I “make lemonade” by thinking of him as my fun travel companion. I did have to sell it though. The angled door was too difficult for me and it was too heavy and took up too much room in car. I miss it. We’re trying a Coleman weather master this time. It’ll give us a bit of privacy. I do like the idea of a second tent, by the way. I already have a smaller s2nd and invite younger friends to join us but I think I like your idea of storage and an illusion of extra people. I’m 71 by the way.

Yeah, I had one of those easy put up tents. It was a two room tent. They even had lights installed in it. It was real nice. And yeah, it was real easy to put up. Loved it. Unfortunately, I let a friend borrow it and their dogs chewed holes through it and there went my tent. So, not big dog friendly. I think it was on sale for $110 and that was a 10 man two room tent

Thank you for your demonstration of the different tents! I have a Coleman fast pitch tent and it goes up quickly but takes quite a bit of effort to get back in the bag. The Gazelle looks easier though and I will have to look into it. The only problem I see for me is the door shape. Look forward to your next video!! Safe travels
@myshoeboxadventures Жыл бұрын
David, thanks so much for watching, your comments are always so positive and appreciated. The bag on this tent is oversized and waterproof so getting it back in is much easier and yes, the door shape takes some getting used to but there are 2, one on each side. More to come on this Senior Solo Camping subject. Thanks again for watching and as always, Happy Camping!

I don’t know if you have the instant tent or not. I have a 6 person. The first time I put it back in the bag, it was tight. Then I noticed the bag had a feature on the bottom that you could rip a panel out and it unlocks an expansion capability. After that there is plenty of room in the bag, even for a footprint and rain fly.

I have the green Gazelle t4 tent and have had it for a couple of years now. I absolutely love it. The material that is made out of is twice as sturdy as those cheap Walmart tents and the water rating for the material they use is almost double from the cheaper tents. I love the big zippers on it two the hardly ever hang up or jam on you. REALLY REALLY good tent and worth every penny in my book. 🙂 thank you for the set up and review. I also have the g5 gazebo tent I love that thing too it sets up just as easy and it keep all the bugs out when I'm camping... thank u again Steve. Have a good one.. 👍🙂

Thanks for a great review ! I'm a senior like you and want to do some SUV camping. It's too bad the SUV tents (Napier) cannot be put up easily like the 2 you demonstrated here!! Maybe Napier will somehow 're-engineer' their Backroadz SUV tent o simplify setup !! Thanks again, new subscriber !!
@myshoeboxadventures Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and Subscribing! Napier makes another SUV tent called the Sportz tent that I believe is easier for one person to set up. It is slightly smaller and the door is on the driver side. Also more expensive of course but they do have sales from time to time. Attaching the tent to your car is a great way to go! Glad to hear you want to get outside, it’s fresh air, exercise, vitamin D and FUN! Happy Camping!

I've used mine 3 times and absolutely love my Gazelle T4 .... So easy n Nice for car camping ... Live in MN but plan to come down to Quartzsite this year or next... not quite retired (5 years left.) I'm now looking for a a good cot / sleep system for it. Sounds like your going to cover that on your next vid. Thinking of doing a small cargo camper conversion and use my Gazelle as a nice storage / bathroom to go along with a small future Cargo Camper or small RV. Or just tent!! New Sub, like your vids

I know they are both rated as 4p, but for the first instant tent, I think the 6 person model is a better one to compare against the Gazelle T4. It has about the same headroom as the gazelle, and as you said, it’s just as easy to put up as the 4 person.

Hey Steve!! Is anything safe these days - you just have to do it and be prepared to protect yourself! Setting up tents solo definitely is an issue... The Gazelle looks pretty nice but a little small. Do they come in bigger sizes? Great reviews! 💙Terry and Terri

Mate, you have not put up the tent. The rain fly is essential and pegging it down takes a lot longer than you. Seniors need a stretcher, what you call a cot. Seniors should not be sleeping on the ground.
