The moment I add layer styles, the alpha matte disappears, and I get the full gradient texture. Edit - I came up with a fix: pre-compose the shape at the very beginning, before the cube, and apply the Layer style to that. Edit 2 - It didn't work.

is there a reason you're pre-comping the whole cube and keying out each side instead of just putting the liquid gradient in the cube comp? Seems like it would be less work.

Great question, if we do it on the whole cube, it will appear to be flat and we won't be able to add any inner glow and bevel around the edges of each side, only by doing it on each side individually can we make it more 3d.

layer style not working in your method , the track matt wont work in 3d in video you first showed to make grident layer 3d ,, then it suddenly gets non 3d
