"It's curious how 'dramatic' in English has both a negative and a positive connotation, compared to Spanish and, I suppose, other Romance languages. In our case, it's always negative, like 'as a result of a dramatic fall, their spine was broken,' but never with a positive sense like 'dramatic views' as an equivalent to 'spectacular views.' Making the mental effort to use 'dramatic' in a positive way is going to be 'dramatic' for me."

Interesting observation! English can have quite contrasting meanings for the same word.

Can someone help me? Take a look at these two sentences: I go to store everyday. I go to the store everyday. I think both of them are grammitacally correct but in one of the youtube channels the first one was considered as a wrong sentence. In my opinion both of them are correct. The first one means going to store is my daily routine but not a specific store and the second one means going to a specific store is my daily routine. I need help.
@marinacherkezishvili899Ай бұрын
Thanks a lot teacher Harry. I relish your great lesson❤
@LearnEnglishwithHarryАй бұрын
Only the second sentence is grammatically correct: I go to store everyday. ❌ Incorrect. In English, we need "the" before singular countable nouns like "store" unless you're speaking very generally (e.g., I go to stores every day). I go to the store every day. ✅ Correct. The article "the" indicates a specific store, even if the exact store isn't named. So, the KZbin channel is correct in saying the first sentence is wrong. 😊
