Hmmm - didn't understand about making it snug - why would tape (not shown on actual battery) either side of the battery make it work?

I have experienced this problem, with both Rolleiflex SLX and SLX2. The battery has a series of circular metal holes. The battery chamber has matching contact rods which are supposed to go into those holes. However the holes are too large and after years of electrical contact, the edges get charred and reduce the electrical contact inside those holes. The battery itself was a little loose in the chamber which was probably OK originally, but with compromised contacts the loose battery did not help. So by trial and error, I discovered that I could press the battery firmly in and hold it by hand and that would force the battery contact. As a more practical option, instead of holding it by hand a little black vinyl tape on either side of the battery made it half a millimeter fatter to fit snugly and maintain that contact. Since the vinyl tape is quite grippy, it holds in place and maintains the initial pressure as you push it in. I would say the battery issue is the number 1 problem with these cameras. Solve that problem first and then attempt the rest, as without the battery nothing else matters.

Something magical about SLX II - like Rolleiflex 75mm 3.5F Planar. Just something... unusual. And like @aladinniazmand2070 said, be careful on cleaning. 4 months ago

Yes indeed it is very special. That’s why it was worth the great effort to restore it to 100% functionality and aesthetics so that it will last another 30 years. Also see the other video on the original SLX.

Why be so carefull with the mirror cleaning? If the silvered surface is under the glass wouldn't a glass cleaner work just as well?

Yup, be extra careful with the mirror - think about the liquids you're using. Or just leave it, frankly.

Silvering is on top, not protected under glass. It is recommended that you only clean it with great care, using only cotton tips (not polyester types) and distilled water. If you can use a soft brush and air blast (not with a compressed air can) it will be even better. A little dust on the mirror does not actually show up in the viewfinder. Any dust you see is probably on the front or back of the focusing screen as that is where your camera is focused, not the surface of the mirror.
