We wanted a fast way (with minimal mouse clicks!) to print two-color and multi-color Gridfinity bins with our Bambu X1 Carbon with AMS using Fusion 360. This video shows a few different ways to quickly get multi-color prints including the Bambu height range tool, as well as how to export multiple bodies in ONE step out of Fusion 360.

New bodies is my favorite way to do text then color by object in the slicer. Tip is to set your main color to your text color then just change the main body back to your main color. That way it’s one click changing only the main body.

That last example you show, where the text was flush with the model, is exactly what I've been trying to figure out all day. Thanks for the video!

I design light boxes in Fusion and print on a Bambu printer. The best way I have found when doing multiple colors is to start and activate a new component when extruding that color. That way all of your bodies for that color will fall into the component. I will name the component whatever color I want so when I go into my slicer I can just pick the color on the objects page. I have done parts where I have had to color hundreds of bodies but I only have to make one click

Nicely done! I like your elimination of the purge tower. Fun fact: if you print your nomenclature on layer one, the purge tower stops at layer one. Also, nice design... it puts the nomenclature at the top where you want it.

Awesome, thank you! I have been working in Fusion for some time but am getting a bambu next week (used j1 before) exactly for the use case you showed here - can’t wait to test nextcweek. But how did you export the fusion design with the extruded letters from inside fusion directly to the bambu slicer with one click? You did this so fast I couldn’t follow. I always export as mesh, then import into a slicer manually. Is there a direct way to connect fusion to the bambu slicer? Many thx for a helping hand.

Hi John, long time no hear (Dinner in Sydney many many moons ago ;-) ;-) Another vid-worthy and very valuable area of Fusion/3DPrt integration would be an optimal modular method of being able to drop hole reinforcement into larger bodies. e.g. dropping a set of 6mm heavy wall reinforced holes into a primary body so that the hole structure is printed using different walls/fill and webbed into the larger primary surfaces for support.

In addition to exporting the STL (mesh) as multiple parts, you can extrude your text as a new component. Then, I export a STEP (.stp) file from Fusion 360 and bring that into the slicer. At this point, you can colour the entire text in one go through the object menu.

STEP files are great i have totally eliminated STLs for anything model myself especially multicolour

I also do that, and it's the best way for me to achieve a clean multi-color effec :-) Note, that you have to export the mesh from the new component you created. And then, import all your STL files at once in Bamboo Studio and select 'yes' when prompted "to load these files as a single object with multiple parts". Afterwards, you can easily change the color of each object.

@@hervemarie966 If you export the entire project as a single STEP file, you can bring it into Bambu Slicer in one step. This will also give better quality curves.

@3:52 export stepfile instead of STL and you get better print quality and you don't get the z-fighting from all the stl vertices. you have a printer and slicer capable of handling stepfiles, absolutely zero reason to use outdated stl.

Step files sometimes do wired things inside the slicer. STL is the safe way that always works.

How did you connect Fusion to Bambu Studio? That step isn't at all obvious, and most videos just export the file.

I have had an issue of when I do text it only wants to color 3 layers of the floor . So depending on color the infill would show through the floor that's a different color

i had tennis elbow in 2020, first one arm then the other. I found the total solution in 2 things, STOP doing the repetitive stuff that same old way, for me that meant buying an angled ergonomic mouse and changing some phone holding habits, and do an arm n shoulder weightlifting workout every second day. just a 5 to 10 pound dumbell is all you need.

There are ways to manually 3D print with multiple colors. The approach is similar for other brands and single extruded printers. Search around on YT or on your preferred social media platform.

Any reason you don't extrude just the text as its on solid, import into the slicer, and print it as a different filament?
