I can't say it enough times, Jackie ~ My Saturday ritual of spending 30 +/- minutes with YOU, in your creative space/head/soul is the most wonderful time of my week! All 3 of the collages turned out fabulously, and were so much fun to watch! You are so generous to share all of the thoughts in your head while you elaborate on every step you take, and that is so edifying, interesting and thought provoking, so thank you!! My observation ~ The "bales" of hay ended up looking like large boulders once you created the depth and texture!

Thank you, Deanna - I think you know how much that means to me. You are right about the "bales" (thank you) of hay looking like boulders in the end - and I think I liked them better as that 😍

In Germany it is 7.30pm now, when I finish watching your video Jackie. What a wonderful way to end this sunny fall day. I like your collages a lot, because the colors and shapes speak to me, make me travel. And a thought came to my mind, that the way you created these three collages so to say simultaneously, is a gorgeous way to free at least three parts of your art personality at the same time. And allow them to express themselves and free their inner pictures or landscapes. The way you reacted also showed, how healing and encouraging this process can be. I mean the devotion to your intuition. This video was a big profit for me. Thank you so much. xo Britta

It doesn’t matter what you put down to get started. INTUITION and PLAY are embedded in my brain because of your ‘teachings’. THIS is why I enjoy watching and hearing your ‘theories’. Thx for explaining the difference between the PVA & gloss medium, for saying not to overthink, get a sense of composition, create a happy end result & enjoying the process. All these are so important to remember. BTW, Luv the combos for these 3 collages.

Jackie, I loved this so much! I've experimented with collage, but want to return to it. This inspires me. I love your idea of cursive writing, turning 90 degrees and writing over. That was brilliant! As you were creating these, what came to my mind (and yes, I saw the desert in that one, and the two different landscapes in the others) was when I took a train trip across the top of America between Illinois and Washington for the two mountain/hill landscapes. For the one with the haystacks, it took me back to Wisconsin at dusk, and the other near Montana. I mentioned last week when you were creating your papers I decided to just watch, and not multitask. I constantly multitask (which is draining). I decided to make a point while watching your videos to just watch (with a cup of tea). I think this will change my life and my focus! 😉Thanks so much.
@PaintedPaperStudio3 ай бұрын
Oh my goodness, Mary - I love everything you've written here, but mostly the part about not multitasking. It is something that I am very concerned with, too. As for the handwriting over the handwriting - I taught myself how to do that when I wrote in my journal. If I had to get something out of my head, but didn't want anyone to read, I'd do this type of handwriting. Now I just do it because it's a cool design element. Thank you for making my day! 🥰

Another wonderful creative journey with you Jackie. Thank you 🙏🏻 Echoing another creative’s comment, the hay bales became boulders and the landscape reminded me of Dartmoor here in the south of the Uk. Love all the pieces and a very helpful lesson in values and composition when you layer darker and lighter tones. I’ve been struggling with abstract recently and will give collage a try as I think it will help with overall composition. As much as you are working intuitively, the placing of the pieces seem more purposeful compared with the flow of paint application, if that makes sense? So very grateful for all that you share here on your creative journey 🙏🏻😍🙏🏻🤗
@PaintedPaperStudio3 ай бұрын
Thank you, Andrea! You bring up a very good point that I had not thought about before-composition does come together (for me) much more easily with collage than with paint. The shape of the pieces of paper has a structure that can give a starting point. I'm going to pay attention to the next "intuitive" painting to see how I feel about the composition coming together vs. a collage. 🥰

How is it intuitive? OR I’m interested more in the process of using your intuition?
@PaintedPaperStudio2 ай бұрын
Great question Liz! My process is based on trusting the (very) subtle feelings I have when creating. If I have a specific urge, no matter how subtle, I try to trust it and follow through. If the action from the urge fails, I re-start with the next idea that feels good. Creating, for me, is the pursuit of good feelings - it's the process, not the results. Does this help? 🥰
