Not all bad, although there's enough of it. I could make an edit and only feature live thriving reef but that would be too misleading and folks need to see the ugly that's happening out there too.

I can't speak to this thicket but in general our reefs have been hit hard by hurricanes, bleaching, pollution and unsustainable fishing practices such as dropping fish pots directly on reefs, compressor diving to hunt fish and overfishing our herbivorous fish which cleans the coral of algae. Can it be restored? If many of the problems listed above can be eliminated then it will have a chance. Coral restoration projects are happening in sanctuaries around Jamaica including in our East Portland Fish Sanctuary. So there is hope but Jamaica needs a huge wake up call.
