This is the best modern pen! I cannot express how great it writes! My congratulations!

The cheapest Falcon in the UK as of October 2021 that I can find is, £198.00 , which is about $248.00! Why do some Japanese companies charge punitive prices for writers in the UK and Europe? Brian Goulet has mentioned this several times. Thanks very much for the great video.

A lot of this is because of the distributor in the country or market e.g. the Pilot disty in the UK and has nothing to do with the manufacturers.

This year I bought a Pilot Falcon soft nib fountain pen. I have been collecting and using fountain pens for over 20 years. Sadly this pen nib failed within two months - the tines simply separated without improper use and was rendered useless. I do not recommend this pen at all. So much for Japanese "quality". My experience and opinion.

I’m struggling so much with this pen. I wanted a flex pen but it’s so scratchy and miserable I don’t even like using it at all. I’m thinking of trying some micro mesh on it.

Could I ask what paper you are using with it? I recommend a decent fountain pen paper e.g. Clairefontaine and also use a wet ink e.g. Iroshizuku or Waterman. Also check if the tines have bits of paper trapped between

It seems odd to me that you would review a pen and not even remember whether it actually came with a converter! My Pilot Resin Falcon came with both a cartridge and a CON-40 converter.

Too many pens.. :) I believe it should have come with one as its one of the higher end pens

I hope you could compare the 2 pens like a zoom of the nibs while writing. I have always wonder if the "bouncing feeling" of a Pelikan nib is how the Falcon nib feels like. I'm not into calligraphy but I like smooth bouncy so what's the difference feeling. I can't find a video, maybe it's too difficult to record, with a clear zoom to the nib while writing, maybe slow motion, to see the different behaviors of the nibs. A real Flex Nib is a complicated topic; for deep calligraphy, for fun feeling, for just to have it, not a daily writer and then which is best? Noodler's triple tail, Aurora Flex, Falcon, Vintage flex, etc is too expensive to buy all just to compare and again, my question, what do we expect from buying a Flex nib pen? Thank you so much! Looking forward more videos!

I certainly don't feel much bounce with the Pilot Falcon in everyday writing. You could use this blindfolded and feel like it's a normal pen, albeit slightly soft. I have to push the nib quite firmly for it to flex on the downstroke and even so, I won't bend the nib so much. The 912 FA is much softer, its more akin to a brush feeling on the downstroke which I like. If you want to try out what a flex nib would do, just get a nib holder and buy a box of flex nibs e.g. Zebra G and try it out with some dip ink. It would be a way cheaper investment that way.

@@WrexelsWorld I think that's a good idea and a good place to start. According to what you say, I kind of go by the 912 FA which I can use as a daily writer so it'll be a win-win I guess. I love the Pilot Vanishing nibs (I have a Decimo in Fine and Broad) so maybe the 912 FA nib won't disappoinmt me. Thank you so much for the quick respond!!🖋🙂

@@nicksg3002 I have a VP as well, don't enjoy it that much, my fault as I bought the EF and it's like a needle. I really like the 912 shape, in general I think the flat top pens are more classic looking compared to cigar shaped pens. As an update to my 912 FA, it is starting to have hard starts on the diagonal upstrokes. You probably should read more on other people's experiences with this pen before buying it so you know what to expect.

Do you think this pen is better than the metropolitan? I have never owned a fountain pen before, but I have used my dad's, he has various fountain pens. I want to get one for drawing, so I don't know which one to get

I've tried to explain a bit of this in my latest video. Short answer is - the Falcon would be great for drawing.

The Falcon is several levels above the metropolitan. The metropolitan is considered among the entry level, beginners fountain pen with a steel nib. It is a very good pen but the Falcon is a premium pilot pen and has a gold specialty nib.
