Here is a quick overview of my Foley Belsaw planer molder, I have since sold my previous planer moulder and upgraded to this one. This one has a single phase 5 HP motor with a magnetic motor starter.

Nice machine. I have one just like it and it did a great job. Replaced the rollers on mine and it works even better.

If you find a 20 inch planer ...it is likely that you will keep it intact instead of parting it out. My older 20 inch RBI has about a 1inch thick steel plate bed, easily changeable shaft and MOST important ...a variable speed feed roller motor. The removeable shaft will allow you to purchase a newer style small cutterheads allowing you to use the newer corrugated molding knives, which are easier to get it right. You can fit about 4 cutterheads on a 20 inch shaft.

Have you ever had a issue where the rollers sit a little lower than the blade. So it doesnt cut. Just rolls stock

I have the same question too. I’m researching to find an answer. No luck yet. Seems to be a pattern.

You'll need to feed deeper, mine will roll stock but I keep cranking the wheel up until it planes. I think the rollers lift at least 1/4-3/8" on mine.

Hi, recently bought a used Belsaw 9103 planer in pretty decent shape just like yours, and so far it seems to run fine other than the somewhat excessive shakes/vibrations (also just like yours). Can you elaborate on how you adjust/tighten the belts to maybe reduce some of the shakes? I tried to read the manual but couldn't find any info on how to go about adjusting the belts. BTW, what's the difference between 910 vs 9103 models? Thanks in advance.

Mine does shake pretty good, but I believe that the motor is on a slide. Unbolting the motor and pushing it back should tension the belts. Unfortunately, I do not know enough between the two models to be able to tell you much. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the quick reply. I just re-read the manual and it also says to do that but won't that take the belts out of alignment with the pulleys?

No problem! I don't believe so, because there are only the two pulleys. It'll slide front to rear on the machine, so further away the motor gets the tighter the belt would get.

@@thewoodworker01 I'll give that a try next chance I have some time to work on this planer. Maybe it's just me since I'm still new at this. Thanks, again. Cheers!

That's cast aluminum, not cast iron. The only cast-iron part is the bed.

Sorry to disagree. There is no cast aluminum anywhere on this machine. The only aluminum parts I've found are the blade gibs on the cutter head.
