for the OCR exam do you have to know about choosing the right component for the buffer solution based on the pka?

my teacher said that we should be saying that the alkali/base reacts with the CH3COOH instead of H+ so im not sure which one to use any guidance would be appreciated

MaChemGuy I thought so too it’s just my teacher said on the new spec we are supposed to write that it reacts with the HA because there is too little of H+ I think for my exam I’ll write both Since both points do turn up in mark schemes from old spec Thanks for helping me understand it better
