since it is an 'after update' trigger the record is locked for any further updates, hence it is in 'readonly' state. After update triggers must be preferred to update other objects and not the record triggering object. For the scenario asked in the interview we could use "before" trigger to over come the readonly error imo rather than finding a workaround for the after trigger.

1.4 permission sets, with their respective permissions,2. you can create 4 groups with 10 users wrt to there access level, 3.assign these permission set to those groups
