Interesting. I am on my second bottle of RM Number 5, and not once have I ever experienced the burned rubber smell. Crazy how noses are so different.

Same here. It’s a master piece created by a Master perfumer ( RIP) … nothing compares to #5, it was described as “ out of this world scent” and I agree!

No 5 is so incredibly well balanced - it pushes limits - a bit more and the burnt rubber would be unwearable for me - it is also ever so slightly sweet to my nose - such blending precision - I need to try Babycat!

I absolutely love this comparison and you are spot on👌👌. I love RM no.5 but I love no.7 more, especially for cold weather😍😍. You are so right about the burnt rubber thing, which others apparently don’t get, for that reason it will be a pass for me😉😉. The only challenge I have now is that Babycat is sold out in most UK site😩😩. I might have to switch direction and go to the UAE to get it🤔🤔. Just picked up ishq Al shuyukh gold from lattafa and found it it was a clone of #5. I was trying to buy the silver version thinking it was a one million lucky clone. I am extremely happy with the gold and have never tried #5 or babycat. I am getting a smooth caramel/vanilla with a light saffron.. really super nice almost gourmandish smell . I just read a comment that it is a exact dupe of Arabians tonka also ... would like a comparison and for $30 bucks you cant loose..do all the fragrances i mentioned smell similar?

Tried both of them side by side and full wearing them day by day. There is a burned tires note which makes no5 special. RM no 5 is a beast mode fragrance while Babycat projects on sligthly softer side, as a man i do prefer RMno5, it leans more masculine imo. They are both great tbh

This was my hardest side by side comparison, I own RM5 and stumbled upon Babycat. At first, without giving it a deep thought, said to myself they smell the same. Some might disagree, my RM5 and its been a year now since I owned it always felt reluctant to spray, and it was the Burned Rubber. Babycat after doing many side by side samples, was the cleaner version of that scent profile. I do also agree the incense is just beautiful. But for more an easier use thought this is not a blind buy recommended, babycat wins. Great review and thanks addressing the differences

In Europe its impossible to get hold of Babycat, I think UK/France works, but in Sweden we cannot get hold of it anywhere,,,,,,,,,recommend to order Vanagloria instead- heard that they are quite similar and better price.....I did, and are waiting for that bottle...lets see!

From what I find #5 only has they burnt rubber smell when spraying in my skin. On clothes it doesn’t, I’m guessing there is some chemical reaction with skin going on.

@@polardog5443 Guerlain Oud Nude is almost identical to my nose. A very very close comparison. So close that it would have been redundant for me to purchase Babycat because I own Oud Nude. The vanilla is emphasized in both and I actually prefer Oud Nude because to me it feels more balanced while Babycat becomes super sweet after a while.

It was the same for me about the rubber weird scent, you need to keep that laying with it, after the 4 wears or so, It totally disappear. I don’t get the weird suede/burnt rubber anymore, just in the first 5/10 sprays or so

I've tried Babycat for the first time today knowing nothing about it, didn't watch any reviews, I didn't know the notes. I can absolutely smell rubber! Not burned (not sure I even know that smell), but it is more like new tyres smell if that makes sense? I love new tyres smell and I love vanilla - it's a very weird combination that it very addictive! Later in the drydown I get Botafumeiro insence and a beautiful vanilla. I'd love to try nr5

Oh absolutely leather can smell like rubber! That’s why I never got along with the original Shalimar. But it’s 100 times more pronounced and burning in RM5. ❤️❤️

I own RM No5 and I finished 4 samples of BabyCat. Although they do not smell exactly the same, they are similar enough to not buy a bottle of BabyCat for now. I'll wait until I finish my RM No5 bottle to purchase it. I'm avoiding redundancy in my collection. I agreed BabyCat is more balsamic, resinous, and sweeter.

Yay I’m so excited! My husband picked up the very last bottle of Babycat in Zurich and it’s 10x better than I imagined. I’m smelling it alongside No 5 and Herod and it reminds me of a cross between those two. No 5 is a saffron overdose w more yummy leather, but I love Babycat more than RM No 5 and Herod. I’m still waiting for Vanagloria to arrive!

@@KarolinaPL06 thank you! Ok. Well…it helped that it was super cold and dry that’s #1 (zero humidity). I used a leave in conditioner because my hair is damaged from over processing (that’s the 2nd thing I did) and I spritzed TRESemme Heat tamer on the ends about an hour before I used my Kiss Instawave. And yes my curls lasted into the NEXT day (even when slept on). Let’s see if that works the next time! 🙏🏻😁

Spot on with no.05. That opening is intense and really unappealing. I have only experienced that scent to that level with one other fragrance recently and it was Initio Side Effect. It smells almost of burnt chemicals. So strange and sad cause the other parts of the fragrance are really beautiful.

Blind bought Rosendo Mateau No 5 due to the rave reviews. Agree completely re the awful burnt rubber opening that does my head in! Have got past this by layering it with Baccarat Rouge 540 which makes the opening bearable. After that - beautiful. Can’t wait to try BabyCat. Watching the Selfridges site like a hawk!

Funny. The first time I sprayed RM5 I could just not stand the rubber smell. I thought I will hate it so I sold it. Then I blind bought babycat. For me it is a vanilla that is nothing special. Just incense vanilla. And for me the longevity is pretty poor if I have to be honest. So with babycat I am disappointed. Then I thought should get RM5 again and give it a second chance. And then a miracle happened- I slightly get for a second the rubber, but then it is just smooth, sweet and sexy. And now I love RM5 sooo much. But I’m still disappointed with babycat. Unless you let yourself believe you love it, because everyone is raving and hyping about it. But it is nothing special honestly

Right. The minute I find a perfume that is universally loved by all, I’m taking my entire savings account and buying stock in the company because that never happens. Never. And like you say….you don’t care for it but I don’t fall prey to hype. I like what I like and don’t like a lot of super hyped perfume but I DO love Babycat and IG lasts forever on me . In fact I wish I didn’t love it so much because it’s impossible to find and there is talk about it bring discontinued. 🤦‍♀️ thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! 🥰

Drydown are identical side by side .Openind is very diferentes with rose pepper babycat,but only 10 minutes,after is the same.If you hace n5 dont need babycat,waste of money i think

I’m taking a perfume class with master perfumer @danieljosierperfumes and he explained I more detail why we after some hours of wear we stop smelling the smells receptors in the brain close so we can’t smell it and others still do that is what happened with your coworker
