I was flying my airbus the other day( empty) and had a touchdown speed about 10knots faster than that. Well, it wasn't mine, but they let me use it for the day.

Is the oscillation in the general flying seen in the videos an artifact/exaggeration due to the camera locations or is there really a consistent oscillation?
@lawrencemanning3 жыл бұрын
This is a good question. It seems worse in some videos then others. I think it's because the plane is particularly susceptible to wind gusts. But I think also it's got a lot better becayse of various tweeks since that vomit inducing first flight.

3:30, You can see something flapping about in the intake scoop.

When you miss a video and then make a comment on the next one you are at risk of stating the obvious. Pilots are taught to avail themselves of 'all possible information' before making a decision.

@@RaptorAircraft I watched your last video Peter where you zoomed in on the air scoop and said you believe you fixed it, on the above video however at 2:22 you mention that (its) squelching your mic again and you said the rattle was still there.., and at 3:30 when the sky is behind the scoop I thought I could see something flapping around.., I will just keep my gob shut in future.

@@formhubfar as I said, I had not figured out where the noise was coming from yet when I made this flight. In the previous video I said that I had since made another flight where I discovered the problem. That flight was the one in this video. It's a bit like Inception. Sorry for confusing you.

@@RaptorAircraft To be honest I didn't realize it was the second flight you 've mentioned in the previous video. I thought that you had fixed it, as you've said in the previous video and this flight was only to check if it's fixed.

I know you are still working on finding the best the static port location. And as you and I both know, when I watch your takeoff I notice that as you speed up your altimeter indicates a climb before you leave the ground. But as you rotate it drops about 40 to 60 feet. So it appears that where you static port is located now is experiencing a pressure change as you increase speed and also at rotation. I'm not trying to suggest anything, just pointing it out in case you missed the altitude drop on rotation. Great video and keep up the good work.

@@leoa4c Please help me understand... Wouldn't putting the static port on the nose tip subject it to direct wind pressure? And would this not make the problem worse? I thought the static port needed to be mounted somewhere on the airframe where there was neither high or low air pressure.

Find a local place that has offroad diesel without the $0.60/gal federal tax. Would be sub $2/gallon. And hopefully you are running it through a filter either when you're putting in your cans or as you pour in.

The federal fuel tax is $.243/gal. Although you may have a state tax also that gets yours to $.60.

I am really enjoying these videos and are always looking forward to the next one. I am a pilot, plane-nerd and only watch KZbin (I don't have a TV subscription). Can I offer a friendly advice for your channel? The content is awesome and well produced. One of the important things that takes a youtuber to the next level is having good sound. When you now probably start doing longer flights and hopefully takes us cross country, it would really help your channel if you improved the cockpit/radio audio. I know this can be tricky on some aircrafts, but it can be done. Saying this, I realize your priority is to get the plane finished so consider this a "nice to have" from some of your viewers :) Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next video :)

Ordinarily, I'd say slap some 90mph tape over it, but Raptor's faster than that and FOD in the scoop would not be fun.
