In this short video, we explore the power of reframing criticism into constructive requests, especially for stroke survivors and their caregivers. Instead of hearing "We're always late because you take too long to get dressed," imagine transforming that into "Please get started dressing earlier," or "Please don't try to do anything else while you're getting dressed." For stroke survivors, this approach can make feedback feel less overwhelming and more manageable, fostering a positive environment for recovery. For caregivers, it can lead to more effective communication and support.
The goal of the American Stroke Foundation is to help stroke survivors continue improving and regaining independence in daily living skills, and to support stroke survivors and their families through their ongoing journey of "life after stroke."
