Wow, I just came across this while starting to pull ideas for a glam/kitchenette/bar area I'm designing for a client. She wants to do dark walls & the house is a beautiful 5000 sq ft property in the woods of upstate NY so I want to come up with a dark paint color that ties in with nature. I happened to find this & wow, what an amazing teacher this lady is! Love her approach & I'm getting so inspired just watching her talk about the tones! Good thing she doesn't live close by or I'd be showing up on her doorstep with a cake & flowers just to get to spend some time with her:))

Very good. You are giving my pictures a depth they did not have before when I was trying to use black and white to lighten and darken. ...and even though I went into more "sophisticated" lightening and darkening, they didn[t have this sound basis in knowing what I was doing. Thanks so much Dianne.

This was a great help as earth colours and which one to choose still gives me problems. Also it would be nice for a video on mixing different sand(beach) colours as there are many different coloured ones. Liked
@IntheStudioArtInstruction5 жыл бұрын
The best way to learn to use these is to practice working with them. I could show you zillions of "how to" tips, but none of them would substitute for the experience of observing nature, then applying what I DO show you to what you observe. Give it a try - you'll see what I'm talking about.
@beachlife29685 жыл бұрын
@@IntheStudioArtInstruction Good point. Maybe you could show maybe 5 reference beaches of different sands and just show how you choose the colours you do. I get myself in a real mess especially with earth colours lol.

Check out Quick Tip 7, Caring for Brushes ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaG4qKhjgbGmkM0 ). To your other questions, my opinion is that if you worry about wasting paint, you do injustice to your painting, however I do have a tip that might be helpful in Quick Tip 162 ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqfPinSurJyojLs ) and this one, Quick Tip 172 ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6PIZ3mvf7Noobc ) I will put varnishing on our schedule.

Although the techniques for working with watercolor are so different from those of oils, the principles of composing are universal. I always think of the way we use color as an integral part of the composing process.

One of the very best tips Diane.. I have neutral color in my watercolor set, is it a total waste of money if I have the colors you mentioned?
@IntheStudioArtInstruction3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say a waste of money. You can always enhance those neutrals with more saturated hues.
@fidrewe993 жыл бұрын
That makes me wonder, is there an advantage of darkening yellow, orange and red with earth colors vs. black? I mean, you need an earth color for each hue to darken it and the range is limited, while with black, you can darken any hue and by as much as you want.
@IntheStudioArtInstruction3 жыл бұрын
There are dark earth colors available, plus the complements of all the warm colors are available in dark, transparent tube colors. Black tends to deaden the hue in middle to light value mixes, but can be useful when a hue change is needed along with an intensity change. It works best, though, with darker mixes.
@fidrewe993 жыл бұрын
@@IntheStudioArtInstruction By "deaden the hue in middle to light value mixes", do you mean black reduces the chroma more stongly than earth colors do when mixed with bright colors, such as yellow? That makes sense, but I quess, yellow ocre is no more intense than a mix of green and deep yellow or orange? Cadmium scarlet I'd deepen with Cadmium red deep anyway, if a want really high chroma.

@IntheStudioArtInstruction5 жыл бұрын
I don't use any medium while painting unless I want an area to dry quickly. In that case, I'll use a tiny bit of Liquin. But I prefer the consistency of the paint as it exits the tube. I use only brands that have that consistency.

Iwould like to know how painting sunny street with trees.I can not find the best collors for it. Please teach me🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🌹
@IntheStudioArtInstruction5 жыл бұрын
Nazanin, your color choices will depend upon the colors you see in the scene and those depend upon the local color of the streets, buildings, trees and direction of the light source. The best way to find your colors is to observe what you are looking at. In bright sunlight, each image will include a local color in light and that will change (get darker and cooler) in shadow. Find the hue first, then the value, then the intensity of the hue.
