Quick Tip 261 - Color Secrets

An abstract painter asks how to work the "rules" of color in regards to using analogous, complimentary, tertiary and triad color concepts. In Color Secrets, artist/art teacher Dianne Mize demonstrates how to think of and use color matching, as well as, color mixing techniques.

It ended up looking like a warm tropical forest and made me want to do this color studies again. I did the ones suggested by Richard Schmid a couple of years ago and they've helped me a lot, but I got so tired that they stopped being fun at the end. Now I think I'm in the mood again, specially because yours doesn't involve making endless squares, hahahaha. Thank you again Dianne, I love your videos. Still the best teacher I know.

Thanks, Carol. I sympathize with the fatigue that can set in when doing the Schmid studies. I, too, found them beneficial and I know he deeply believes in them, but I also know that there are other beneficial ways to study color.
