Using orange/red blew my mind! I've never tried that before, absolutely going to give it a try. Oh but the luxury of oils and they're slow drying time lol I'm doing this in acrylics 😩😄🙏🙏 Thank you so much

Great advice, and as always, the emphasis on how we see something. Sometimes I think I am dyslexic when looking at an image, ha ha. But I love these suggestions and know they will help me tremendously. Thank you!

I love this since I'm most at home at the ocean and want to try to capture this. I was astonished at the color combo but I'm beginning to understand more from the color wheel and what I see. It means so much how you teach. Not formulas. Makes sense. Thank you so much.

Dianne, is there a reason why you don't use color-value lines here? Is it because all the constant back- and- forth sensitive changes in color make it easier just to add white when adjusting the value? When is a color-value line not necessary? Thanks for another great tip, Carol.
@IntheStudioArtInstruction2 жыл бұрын
Carol, the color-value line is my method for premixing value ranges, but in a short tip, it's not necessary.
@chayita72 жыл бұрын
@@IntheStudioArtInstruction Thanks. Just wanted to make sure, because I'm always preaching the color-value line to different artist friends and teachers who had never heard of it. Have a great weekend!

How can I make oxide red?(by myself?
@IntheStudioArtInstruction2 жыл бұрын
Oxide Red is a transparent, dark red orange. Burnt sienna is very close in hue and saturation to it, but not in transparency. You can get the hue and saturation by mixing complements of red orange with blue green, but most likely it will be an opaque mixture.

Rembrandt is definitely the way to go when buying viridian. Handling properties aside, viridian is an appallingly expensive pigment and dries faster than Prussian blue - even with the addition of stand oil. I'd ONLY buy Rembrandt viridian, if I was to buy one. Other brands who offer a budget viridian will just sell you a tube of milk. I've actually been recommended Rembrandt's permanent madder deep to help cure my (unhelpful) alizarin crimson infatuation. I need to kick that.
@IntheStudioArtInstruction2 жыл бұрын
I often wonder why Rembrant uses only the word Viridian to describe that tube color, especially since it is so different from the other tube Viridians.
