Great video. I would like to see a quick tip on mixing complementary colors without getting green. I find myself trying to mix blue and orange and it comes out green

Bauls, that happens when the colors you are using are not exact complements. In the case of blue and orange, if the orange is too yellow and/or if the blue leans towards green (thalo blue or cerulean or prussian blue), the imbalance of yellow will cause the color to turn green. We have to pay attention to the bias of the hue, meaning which way it leans towards its analogous hues.

Thank you for this awesome demo. Should I apply darker yellow on top of wet pure yellow or should I apply it next to pure yellow and blend it at the edge where it meets pure yellow?

Technically, where you want gradation, it works best to place the new mix next to the previous one and blend the edges, but when a dark appears on top of a light, scumbling it on wet into wet works best.

Fred, those darks are darker versions of the same hues given off by the light source. Creating them, we have to watch the value relationship between the boat and the water.
