Thank you for demonstrating this brush stroke, and also explaining how and why it works! Yes, I wanted you to paint the whole flower 😂 I definitely want to practice doing this now, I just know those movements will make me feel like a pro (must try if anyone is watching sometime lol) even though I am a beginner. Another awesome video, much appreciated ❤

I just discovered your channel and subscribed. I'm a professional artist, but there is always so much to learn and i have learned several new things in just a few minutes of watching some of your videos. Thank you for all of this information. :) My mentor told me to stop "drawing with your paint brush". I did that for years. Holding the brush back farther has helped me to PAINT with a paintbrush, rather than draw with it. It has opened up my work so much. I think one thing that helped was using a larger paint brush than i actually thought i needed for a given area.

I never enjoyed painting without line. Ingres, said, "Line is the probity of art." There are many ways to mastering painting.

Yes, indeed! Our history of master painters is proof of that!

I see a lot of artists mixing color on their pallet with their brush as they paint. Is there an advantage to doing this? Or a disadvantage? It would seem to be a faster way to work, if one could get the hang of it. Thanks!

Master painters do both. For me, the painting goes faster if I set up the major colors to be used in at least three values on the palette, then from there mix with the brush as I go.
