If the shift shaft has lateral play in it, moves side to side right to left (as if sitting on the bike). On the stator side, the shift shaft has a lot of play, moves about a half inch, and it wasnt like that before. Its a broken/lost/misaligned torsion spring? From all ive researched, seems logical as thats what seats it on the drum. Plus, i really kick tf down when i downshift gears and it definitely created some early wear, plus the bike was dropped on the clutch side before (at a standstill). If you know what woule cause this play in the shift shaft, thanks!!

@@HorsepowerHouse I appreciate your reply. The pawl arm is fine as it shifts fine otherwise, sometimes. I believe it's the torsion spring, although I bought a new shift shaft. Thank you for your time.

I'm replacing my shift shaft and it comes out 3/4 of the way out but then gets stuck? Do you know why or what it could be stuck on? It's not bent the end of it that sticks out is just busted but shouldn't stop it from coming out.

See of you can hit it out from the left side of the crankcase. With a long screwdriver or something.

@@HorsepowerHouse I attempted to hit it out and it was sketch at first cause the noise from me hitting it changed when it got "stuck" but I kept looking inside and saw nothing I gave it one good love tap not too hard but hard enough and she's out!

@@HorsepowerHouse I see nothing wrong inside also thank god now I should be able to just switch the spring and other stuff into the new shaft and slide her in
