Quick Wafer Paper Butterfly Tutorial ⎸Wafer Paper Toppers

Hi Everyone! Today we're making these super quick and easy wafer paper butterflies! You can whip them up the same day you need them and customize them any way you'd like. In this video we'll be going over how to make single color butterflies, with and without a wire.
As far as storing goes, do keep these away from sunlight. The light will warp and fade the colors. I've had it happen so many times, and it's so sad! I hope I get to see your creations!

These are beautiful! How far in advance can you make them and can they be refrigerated?

So how far in advance depends on humidity. I don't love putting wafer paper in a fridge, but have for max 2 days. After that, the humidity from other food gets to it and it wilts. (Wafer paper loves to absorb humidity) I hope this helps.

Hi Becky I am no sure why my wafer paperis not drying. How long the wafer paper butterfys take to dry complete? I live in OH so is not humid here. Maybe the paints I am using I am using soft gels not alcohol XO

That's interesting. It really shouldn't take that long to dry. If it's not drying after 15 minutes, it could have been saturated in too much liquid, or there could have been too much glycerin. Can you let me know what exactly you used and did? I might be able to better help that way. 💕

I'm going to mix them with food grade alcohol, but there are so many names in the market...can you please let me know what food grade alcohol you use and what paints you used in the video? This might already be in our Facebook group, but there are so many posts there. I would like to thank you again for all your help. You are not only very sweet, but you are also a wonderful person and an excellent teacher. XO

I will literally use any food colors I can find- except for oil simply bc I've never had any on hand. I haven't had an issue with any. Alcohols- I'll use clear vodka, clear tequila, water... anything I can find. Food grade alcohols will dry faster, water will take a little longer to dry, but should still dry up after about 30 min max. Have you tried placing a light fan in front of them to speed up drying? And are you adding cornstarch like in the video?
