Supporting and Planting Tayberries & Boysenberries

How to plant and support hybrid berries like tayberries and boysenberries These berries need a heavier support wire or net than raspberries and blackberries. Berry bushes will need support as canes grow tall and may fall over when heavy with fruit. If you are growing in a small space a single post for every 2 plants will be more practical but if you have the room you are better growing a number of canes or bushes along a post and wire support fence. The beauty of soft fruit canes and bushes is once planted they will produce abundant crops for 10 years or more before the bush starts to decline.

WE only have about 9 inches of soil above rock so no large posts can go in. I've seen one guy just tie all the stems loosely together and support them with the odd cane. Its sort of works. Raspberries grow on a loose wire because you can't tension against any post. Thanks for the video

Boysenberry is actually a cross between 4 different berries: European blackberry, European raspberry, American dewberry, and Loganberry.

those support poles need to be at a much shallower angle otherwise the end pole will lift out of the ground!
