Here's how you can do that if you don't have, or don't want to rent the engine hoist. Crank the tongue of the boat trailer all the way down an block the stern. Then crank tongue all the way up as far as it will go. Put a 4x4 across the bow on two 6 foot step ladders and then crank the trailer down to a level position. The trailer will now pull out from underneath. Once the trailer is out support the boat in the middle from underneath with blocking you can now remove the 4x4 and ladders. That's how I did mine. Total cost $0.00

@@carverrams24 Never thought to take a video. It was a lone time ago, but let me see if I can give you more detail. First put the boat where you want is to be. Second, crank the tongue jack down as far as it will go. The will lower the bow and raise the stern. Now use jack stands, or wood blocking to secure it's elevated position. Once that is done crank the trailer jack up as far as needed to provide clearance for the trailer to be be removed. Using two 6 foot step ladders and 4X4 beam long enough to reach between the ladder tops. Now suspend the bow of the boat from the bow eye and around the 4X4. At this point you can crank down the boat trailer until it's level and simply roll the trailer out.

2 6 ft step ladders cost more then a chain hoist or cherry picker

Neighbours would likley loan your thiers. Might even help for a couple beers. And just buy a 4x4 from lumber yard then return when done.. I like this guy's idea real simple

I used to do this without the crane or jacks. The trailer jockey wheel is all you need, plus some timber to rest the boat on. Mine was a 25 foot hull with mercruiser stern drive, and I could lift it off working solo in about 30 minutes. Just think it through and you won't need all this equipment.

What's a trailer jockey wheel?
@bmpowellicio3 ай бұрын
@@jeffsim8664 that's the small wheel at the nose of the trailer. It usually can be wound up or down to lift the nose onto the tow hitch. If you lower the nose of the trailer, you can then put blocks under the stern of the boat. Lift the nose really high and the boat rear is off the trailer. Get something to sit the bow on and then wing the nose of the trailer down. In two steps you have the boat off the trailer.

Easiest is right! Thanks guys. I didn't have the engine crane, so I used a tree and a Come-Along Hand Cable Puller to lift the bow.

Good idea, I think I'll use this method when I put my Alumacraft away next winter, the trailer won't fit in the garage but the boat will. I plan on buying or fabing up a boat dollie system with wheels so I can wheel the boat into my garage. That'll save me over $300 month for heated storage.

Looks like the hook in the hoist was sitting a little askew and the collar was not lined up in the arm. If you watch you will see the hook drop down as it makes the sound you are hearing.

@adamcook96848 жыл бұрын
so what are all the supplies you used just 6 cinder blocks and some wood, what about the middle because it kinda skipped that part!
@backwoodslawncare13528 жыл бұрын
yep just a few blocks and some wood to build up and protect your hull from the cinder blocks. all i did with the middle was build up two blocks just like the back and but a peace of carpeted wood and a rag between the block and hull and put it right in the middle of the keel. if you have a bigger boat i would definitely use jack stands instead of cinder blocks it would not be good if one of them broke and drooped the boat. you could do the same thing with stands just build them up with wood.

Set the hitch on the ground. It will raise the rear up. Place blocks under rear then raise hitch. Lift bow of boat then pull trailer out. Really simple.
